MSI GT70 2PC Dominator

Looking for a gaming laptop? Buy this one

Table-topping games power ; Fast processor ; High-quality screen ; Good keyboard ; Excellent value

Poor battery life ; Extremely heavy ; Inconsistent SSD ; Quite noisy

Audio comes from Danish firm Dynaudio, which has optimised the two speakers and single subwoofer. It's done a good job, with crisp high-end and a punchy treble that sits proud from the rest of the range without becoming dominant. Bass is present,...

MSI GT70 2PC Dominator review

A monster gaming laptop with a factory-fresh GPU

Market-leading graphics power ; excellent processor ; good keyboard ; 1080p screen ; powerful speakers

Poor battery life ; inconsistent SSD ; trackpad could be larger ; very heavy ; average colour accuracy

The GT70 is the fastest gaming laptop we've ever seen but, despite its speed, it's no pricier than the competition.

MSI GT70 2PC Dominator review

This is the first mobile chip from nVidia's new range, and it's a monster. It's got 1344 stream processors clocked at 941 MHz, with a GPU Boost peak of 967 MHz. Those are faster clocks than any top-end mobile card in last year's nVidia range.

The MSI is exceedingly quick, it's got a good screen, and its ergonomics and speakers are all impressive. But it has a huge, flashy design and it lacks any battery longevity. Those are issues that aren't always tackled by the MSI's rivals, though, and...

MSI GT70-2PE ‘Dominator Pro’ Gaming Notebook Review

Top end GTX 880m graphics, High levels of gaming performance, More than capable of driving 4K resolutions during gaming, Class leading system

Would be nice to see performance memory as standard, Battery life not as good as lower spec systems, No 3K option available at this moment in time, Touch pad could be a bit larger

It comes as no surprise that as a top end gaming notebook, the GT70-2PE Dominator Pro does not come with a lightweight price tag. Taking the wider market and desktop systems in to account as well, the Dominator Pro may be a little behind some of the...

MSI GT70 Dragon Edition review: last year's gaming powerhouse gets Haswell

More InfoMSI GT70 reviewFirst Haswell gaming laptop revealed: MSI GT70 Dragon Edition 2 with GTX780M graphicsIntel: Haswell will boost battery

Fast and powerful ; Excellent game performance ; Fantastic battery life for its class

Loud fan ; Limited viewing angles ; Trackpad glitch makes it unusable in most games

Despite a few workable flaws, the GT70 Dragon Edition is a stellar gaming machine, improving upon the original GT70 without compromising its best features.

MSI GT70 2PC Dominator

The MSI GT70 2PC Dominator is a powerful midrange gaming PC, boasting some of the best hardware around, making it our top pick for the category.

Keyboard with multicolor backlight. Networking adapter optimized for online gaming. Intel Core i7 quad-core processor and latest Nvidia graphics combine for potent performance. Integrated subwoofer. Blu-ray/DVD+-RW combo drive

Touchpad doesn't support basic Windows 8 gesture controls

The MSI GT70 2PC Dominator ($2,351 as tested) is a beefy, 17-inch, midrange gaming laptop boasting the latest hardware from Intel and Nvidia, and features like a customizable keyboard backlight and Blu-ray drive. It has one or two rough spots—namely no...

MSI GT70 Review: GTX 880M Edition

For better or for worse, MSI has had the same core designs for several of their high-end laptops for at least a couple years now, specifically we're talking about the GT60 and GT70 series (and with a few minor differences in features, the GX60/GX70 AMD...

MSI’s GT70 (and their similar but slightly smaller GT60) line of notebooks are designed to cater to a specific class of users. If you want as much performance as possible in a notebook and size isn’t a major factor, they’re definitely worth a look....

MSI GT70 20D gaming notebook

High-end components make MSI's GT70 20D one of the fastest notebooks on the market

Triple-SSD RAID 0 ; Extreme Edition CPU ; High-end graphics

Design looks a little dated ; Keyboard backlight utility isn't great ; Gets loud

MSI's GT70 20D offers a high-end computing experience that's perfect if you're a gamer, or simply someone who wants as much speed as possible in a notebook computer. You pay a lot for the fast performance that this notebook can supply, but that's...
