Lenovo ThinkPad L560 Review

The ThinkPad L560 offers long battery life and deep key travel, but its display and speakers leave something to be desired.

MIL-SPEC tested; Deep key travel; Long battery life

Muted display; Muddled speakers

Lenovo ThinkPad L560 (Core i5, HDD) Notebook Review

Familiar design - new technology? At long last, Lenovo has refreshed the entry-level ThinkPad and equipped the business notebook with an up-to-date Intel processor from the Skylake series. Despite a price of well under 1000 Euros (~$1111), it is...

low power consumption ; good battery runtimes ; free M.2 slot ; maintenance hatch ; docking port ; many security options ; display with wide viewing angles ; battery can be easily replaced ; very quiet system noise ; price policy

moderate display brightness ; poor color coverage ; case should be more stable ; no SSD ; no keyboard light

The Lenovo ThinkPad L560 is a worthy successor to theThinkPad L540. In using more frugal ULV processors, Lenovo has done everything right in this device. The lower power consumption is reflected in good battery runtimes. The aggressive price of less...

Good keyboard layout with full numeric keypad and good large screen.

It's taking a bit to get used to the touch pad with the buttons at the top when I'm used to them at the bottom but I'm sure I'll get there.

I like the trackpoint (alternative to the touchpad) - indeed this was one of the reasons for buying the Thinkpad. The machine loads/launches very quickly. And in use it is virtually silent! The screen clarity and colour rendition is excellent.

The close-fitting lid can make the machine difficult to open on a desktop. Becasuse of the separate numberpad, the 'standard' keypad, trackpoint etc are offset to the left - awkward to get used to. Unlike my previous Toshiba Tecra, there's no visible...

As per most lenovo laptops build quality is excellent.

lack of restore media to reset to factory settings is a pain in the rear.

I bought this laptop because it's a full size one and not a super-slim one, which I understand will make it more reliable. It has a user-replaceable battery and a removable panel on the bottom to access various things, and also a CD/DVD drive. Many...

I don't use the trackpoint - I didn't buy the laptop for that. I'm surprised at how accurately you can control it, though, so it does work! The CD/DVD drawer is a litle flimsy - hardly military-spec, that part! It's OK but don't be rough with it!

Build quality and design Lots of customisation options With SSD the performance is enough to have a copy of our website running at the same time as an IDE and a browser

Unlike the L460, didn't have the extended battery option

Keyboard, the main reason i looked at lenovo after using these laptops for work, the keyboard is so much more comfortable to use for typing my coursework. Also the windows 7 pro as i am not a fan of windows 10, was good to have the option to stick with...

A bit slow starting up and also closing down when doing all of the updates but i guess that depends on the specifications when you purchase.
