Lenovo IdeaPad U300s

If you can live with its lack of SD card reader and screen's poor viewing angles, the IdeaPad U300s is a stylish and ergonomic Ultrabook, and our current 13in ‘budget' favourite.

Attractive, different design, Affordable, Ergonomic keyboard, Good battery life, Full-size HDMI

No SD card reader, No keyboard backlighting, Screen has poor viewing angles, Sharp edges

Lenovo IdeaPad U300S review

Is this the ultraportable to make us look beyond the MacBook Air?

Matt screen ; Intel Core i5 performance ; Comfortable keyboard ; Lightweight ; Good battery life

Bland design ; Badly placed Home buttons ; Annoying trackpad ; Limited connections

The wait for the flurry of Intel ultrabooks is over, and the Lenovo IdeaPad U300S is among the latest super thin and light Windows laptops to come to the fore.

Lenovo IdeaPad U300s ultrabook review

The Lenovo IdeaPad U300s is the one of the newest laptops to compete for the Intel Ultrabook crown, but how does it fare?

Good keyboard ; Matte screen ; Intel Core i5 power

Fiddly touchpad ; Plain looks ; Limited connections

The Lenovo IdeaPad U300S is a good ultra-portable laptop and the matte screen makes it ideal for working outside. However, if you’re looking for an Ultrabook to use as your main PC, it doesn’t offer any compelling reasons to choose it over the...

First Look: Lenovo U300s

Let's be honest, Lenovo isn't known for consumer laptops, nor is it really known for creating objects of desire. That is not to say that it's laptops aren't brilliant, because they often are. The problem is, unless you work for a business that gives...

Great mix of sensible and stylish

Poor port selection

Based on the time we've spent with the Lenovo, we're really big fans. It's a little more dull than, say, a MacBook Air or the Asus UX31, but it's still gorgeous and we like how it works.

Lenovo IdeaPad U300s review

Lenovo's IdeaPad U300s is seemingly positioned somewhere between appealing to the consumer and businesses, with an attractive tapered front edge and metal lip running around the side of the chassis giving it a slimline ‘book' appearance.

Definitely hits the brief in terms of thinness and weight,Eye-catching design

Lack of connectivity, particularly SD card slot

Overall the IdeaPad U300s is an attractive laptop which, despite some minor niggles, mixes great portability with impressive performance.

Lenovo IdeaPad U300s review

Want a powerful laptop that's barely-there without being a MacBook Air? Try an Ultrabook like the U300s on for size

From its classy all-metal body to its affordable price, the Lenovo barely puts a sleek foot wrong

Lenovo IdeaPad U300s review

The Lenovo IdeaPad U300s is one of the new breed of thin-and-light Intel Ultrabook laptops – REVISED 2 MARCH 2012

Performance and specification are decent, but the author found the keyboard too awkward for comfortable use. There are a few too many problems with the Lenovo Idea Pad U300s for us to recommend it, not least of which is the high price tag.

IdeaPad U300s Notebook

The minimalist design of the notebook housing creates an elegant appearance. The aluminium casing renders a high-quality impression and creates pleasant haptics.

Lenovo U300s Ultrabook

Review A body made from a single piece of aluminium. Uh-huh. A case held shut with magnets. Righty. A multi-gesture trackpad with a glass surface. Ohhh-kayyy, I think I can see what's happening here.

Once you've tried the IdeaPad U300s, you won't want to use any other computer... says one of Lenovo's Beijing-based engineers as part of the slick advertising for this smart Ultrabook. I don't happen to agree - well, I'd be nuts if I did because I'd be...
