Kogan Agora PRO review

The Kogan Agora PRO is a lightweight budget laptop with 11.6in screen and Ubuntu 11.04 operating system.

This Kogan Agora PRO 'ultraportable' is basically a netbook – but a netbook with a difference. It looks smart, feels quite solid and runs the Ubuntu operating system with ease. Battery life really lets it down though. The Agora PRO has good storage,...

Kogan Agora Netbook Pro

A cheap-as-chips netbook with a few niggles under the hood

Attractive and understated design, preinstalled apps, affordable price

Wireless connectivity took some work, poor keyboard

Despite its flaws, the Kogan Agora Netbook Pro is a reasonable performer for the asking price. If you can get to grips with the open source OS (or have a spare Windows licence handy), it will satisfy as a secondary notebook.

The Agora brings the concept of a low-cost netbook firmly back on the agenda, but its woeful wireless performance seriously detracts from its value proposition.

Inexpensive for a 10-inch netbook ; gOS is highly capable

Build quality is average ; Spotty wireless coverage ; Updating kills wireless ; Basic model is comparatively poor value

The Agora netbook looks like a winner and may just upset the other players in the game thanks to its good build quality at a great price.

Kogan Agora Pro

The modem port may be blocked off because getting a modem in a Chinese-designed product approved for Australia is not a cheap proposition, and for something with as short a model life as this, would probably be un-economical.
