HP Envy 17-n107ng Notebook Review

Hot and enduring. Long battery life is obviously appreciated, but does it benefit the task profile of the less than mobile 17-inch form factor in the case of the new notebook from HP? On the other hand, the multimedia aspects are pretty successful; the...

robust and nice aluminum chassis, all the ports at the back, battery accessible from the outside, good display in general, fast quad-core, a lot of RAM, fast SSD, 4 GB VRAM, excellent sound system, very frugal while idling, very long battery runtimes

not a lot of information about the series on HP's websites, tricky maintenance, black value is too high, low contrast, reaction times of the display too slow for gamers, mediocre Turbo utilization, sustained maximum load results in a hot chassis

The high temperatures of the HP Envy 17-n107ng affected the overall rating a bit, and this is justified for temperatures of up to 82 °C (107.6 °F). Those temperatures are concentrated to some points on the chassis and are only reached after long...

HP Envy 17: defying the skeptics

When it comes to reviewing laptops I prefer to stay away because they're basically all the same, with a few exceptions. So when it came time to replace my

Fast processing, works very well with what I require it to do (AutoCAD drawing works etc)

It is a large laptop, but I require the bigger screen for drawing purposes. Battery life is about the only thing I can fault on this laptop although I still get about 2 hours when it is unplugged.

Like the fingerprint recognition, fast start up and luminous keyboard.

Battery is a bit weak and doesn't warn you before it goes off

Very fast, backlit keyboard is great, handles games with ease, screen excellent at any angle.

Could benefit from more USB 3 connectivity, fan can be a slightly noisey.

Excellent performance and image quality of screen.

It is heavy, but it's a large laptop so to be expected!
