Gigabyte P55W

Gigabyte may be best known for desktop components such as graphics cards and motherboards, but the Taiwanese firm has a strong focus on mobile computing as well, most particularly with gaming laptops.

Upper-to-mid range mobile gaming performance ; Not particularly bulky, heavy ; Runs quietly

Small SSD in this configuration ; 16GB memory would be a good option

The Gigabyte P55W is solid gaming laptop that offers superb performance for an attractive price.

Gigabyte P55W v5 review

Tiger stripes on a gaming laptop that roars

Decent power ; Tactile keyboard ; Good battery life ; Plenty of ports

Slightly chunky ; Heavier than other 15-inch laptops ; Pedestrian design

The P55W squeezes plenty of gaming power into a 15-inch chassis and further impresses thanks to a comfortable keyboard and better-than-average battery life.

GIGABYTE P55W v6 Review

In the spotlight is GIGABYTE's P55W v6; a gaming notebook bearing the new NVIDIA GTX 1060 and a whole host of other great hardware including the Intel Skylake Core i7-6700HQ.

Gigabyte P55W v7 Notebook Review

Quintessential v7. Gigabyte's new gaming machine is aimed at players who want as much power per Euro as possible and are willing to make compromises in the configuration for this. Compared with the predecessor, the P55W v7 can primarily boast with a...

impeccably built, solid-looking casing ; relatively long battery life ; a lot of (gaming) bang for the buck ; good input devices ; USB 3.1 Gen.2 Type-C ; IPS panel ; no PWM

occasional fan whistling/coil whining at higher speeds ; plastic casing with sensitive surfaces ; unfavorable interface positioning ; comparatively slow SSD ; response times not ideal ; no Thunderbolt 3

Gigabyte has again made cutbacks in the right places and sends an overall decent gaming laptop into the race with the P55W v7. Omitting features, such as Thunderbolt 3 and G-Sync, makes it possible for buyers to save a few hundred Euros - and this...

Gigabyte P55W v6 Review

This 15.6-inch powerhouse is one of the most affordable “VR ready” rigs on the market. With a starting price of only $1,400 this notebook offers strong performance, a beautiful display and a quality keyboard.

Gigabyte P55W v5 Notebook Review

Enduring. There are no obvious performance gains in Gigabyte's gaming laptop when compared with the predecessor. However, the new Skylake processor leads to a considerably better battery life. Furthermore, a fast NVMe SSD is also on board.

matte Full HD IPS panel, decent keyboard, NVMe SSD + 2.5 inch hard drive, user-friendly maintenance, long battery life, USB 3.1

3 GB VRAM only, casing and lid could be stiffer, fingerprint susceptible surfaces

Gigabyte's P55W v5 is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop. The installed Core i7 processor provides enough computing power for all common application scenarios. The GeForce GTX 970M renders all up-to-date games smoothly. A lightning-fast NVMe SSD ensures a...

Review: Gigabyte delivers amazing performance on a budget with the P55W v5

The mid-range gaming laptop market is a tricky place for a product to be positioned...

It might not be a huge step up from the last version, but the use of Intel’s new Skylake CPU is a welcome inclusion indeed.

Piece of garbage throttling

Bought this last July while looking for a new place to stay so wanted a portable option, not expecting Gigabyte to offer any kind of return/swap at this point. I upgraded my desktop quite soon after moving into a new place so now the laptop just sits...

-Cheap -Taught me a lesson, no more gaming laptops, will stick to desktops.

Runs hot, not enough cooling. Constant throttling, runs worse than the desktop it replaced. The touchpad/cursor started jumping around like I was having seizures.

Could not be more disappointed with this laptop

I would like to start off and say that I bought this computer for gaming, and that then it works, the specs are impressive. The problem is, it almost never works. I have had constant trouble with the graphics card and been getting driver errors non...

-Cool looking -Specs
