Gigabyte G6X gaming laptop review: Competent performance, but no standout features

The Gigabyte G6X offers solid productivity performance, but gaming is slightly held back by a 105-watt GeForce RTX 4060 GPU.

Attractive and sturdy chassis design ; Strong productivity performance ; 32GB of RAM (2x 16GB) using SO-DIMMs

Display performance is average ; Sub-4-hour battery life ; Gaming performance limited by 105-watt RTX 4060

At $1,299, the Gigabyte G6X, we expect more from the display and battery endurance.

Gigabyte G6X 9KG Review

Low price for Core i7 and GeForce RTX 4060 performance ; 165Hz screen refresh

Unappealing, ghost-ridden screen ; Low-quality build with excessive flex ; Loud fans and blaring speakers ; Lackluster port selection

Performance is key for a gaming laptop, and the Gigabyte G6X 9KG delivers plenty. But too many of its other features are lacking, making it an unappetizing choice even at its relatively low price.

Gigabyte G6X review: A value-packed gaming laptop

Great specs for the price ; Serviceable hardware all around ; Comes with lots of RAM and storage space

Display could be better and brighter ; Not the nicest keyboard, touchpad, webcam, or speakers ; No IR camera for Windows Hello

The Gigabyte G6X delivers a great GPU and CPU at a good price — and it comes with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, too! Everything else is fine, but it’s not flashy or premium feeling.

The G6X 9KG runs games with ruthlessly sharp speed, but its external effects and look (display, speakers, the keyboard) feel like an afterthought.

The Gigabyte G6X 9KG 2024 is great at running games, but it’s not a great gaming laptop. A dull display, subpar keyboard and hollow speakers make for a not-so-entertaining entertainment system.

Decent performance on the cheap but there’s trade-offs

Strong 1080p gaming performance ; Plenty of ports ; No bloatware

Cheap plasticky design ; Display = yikes ; Spongy keyboard and touchpad ; Jet engine fans

The Gigabyte G6X is a decent cheap gaming laptop when it comes to performance potential — especially with DLSS. But too many compromises in the design, ergonomics and display are made to get there. Trust me, you can find better at under $1,000.

The Gigabyte G6X 2024 edition is a solid gaming laptop that's let down by its display.

Decent performance ; Good size for work ; Plenty of inputs

Poor screen response and battery life ; Quite heavy ; Newer chips elsewhere

Specced mainly for games, the Gigabyte G6X is also good for other rendering work. This laptop offers some promising performance but will work best with an external screen.
