Presario CQ56 (amd v140 series) freezing issue: FIXED!

I do not own this myself, I had the pleasure of fixing this exact laptop for a friend who was very upset that her 4-month-old machine was having this issue. Keep in mind, the freeze seems to be triggered about 10 minutes or less after Windows finishes...

Price, great laptop for average users - would suggest something else if you plan to play games

AMD SATA driver - known to cause Windows 7 to lock-up. Fix this by rolling back the AMD driver to the Windows driver (already installed, just roll it back and reboot) ; Bloatware. IMO: Purchase laptop, make disk(s), wipe hdd, reinstall Win7, drivers, done

ARRIVED W BROKEN FAN

I ordered 3rd day UPS and it took one entire week to arrive. I was looking forward to receiving and using this new computer and as soon as it arrived I opened it, turned it on, only to see a warning: "The fan is not activating and the unit will turn...

The screen is bright and clear ; The setup was very fast and automatic and easy ; The power goes on as soon as the laptop is opened ; The unit looked clean and pretty much new

Speaker is terrible - too low, muffled, can't hear from more than a few inches or a foot away. The keys are very small and cramped together. I have 3 keyboards for different computers and this keyboard is really for tiny fingers, not a man's fingers ;...

Not a dual core

Includes a bunch of programs from HP, I deleted with ccleaner. Good for the price. I would buy it again.

Cheap, energy efficient. It comes with a single core @ 25 watts. also comes with windows 7 home 64 bit. Nice computer. Good for office, travel, school or surfing the web. microsoft office free edition. DVD player/burner. Nice screen

Only 3 usb ports. Not web cam

Great computer

Most of the time you get what you pay for but i actually feel like i got a little extra. I would recomend this to anyone who is looking to buy a laptop on a budget. great deal.

I just got the computer a couple days ago and it works great. I had low expectations due to one of the reviews but i think the guy who wrote it had his head in the clowds because it works better then the last computer i paid double the price for. My...

Horrid poorly built stay away

run msconfig and shut everything off from starting up, and reduce the display quality a couple notches that will get the laptop to walk instead of crawl. sigh wish nvidia just gave me a voucher instead of this laptop.

got it for free after nvidia settlement. decent battery life for an AMD run laptop... other than that none

Tons and tons of bloatware ; Needs major tweaking to run at non-snail speeds ; freezes up when running movies that are 720hd quality ; mouse is poorly built, button is single button and it requires way too much force to press it ; programs like chrome...
