Asus Eee PC 901 20G Linux Edition

Now with 'Atom Inside', is the original still the best? Andy finds out.

Brimming with features and with a new CPU and better battery, the Eee PC 901 personifies exactly the spirit in which the original was created. It may be a bit more expensive than the original and lack a more comfortable keyboard, but for a balance of...

Asus Eee PC 901 review

How does the latest Atom-based Eee fare in an increasingly crowded marketplace?

Screen's still lovely ; Six cell battery as standar ; Stylish new chassis

Unresponsive touchpad ; Retains external powerbrick ; Much chunkier than the 701

Asus Eee PC 901 notebook

When Asus launched its Eee PC 900 back in May it was seen as a logical upgrade to the original 701 as it offered more memory, a larger screen and better webcam. Little did we know it would be superseded so soon by the Eee PC 901. So what are the...

Better battery, uses Atom CPU, new trackpad and mouse buttons

Heavier, same keyboard as 900

It's hard to get truly excited about the Asus Eee PC 901 as it's not so much a re-invention of the 900 but what should have been released in the first place. The improved battery life is tempered by the heavier weight and while the Asus Eee PC may no...

Asus Eee PC 901 review

At first glance, there's little to separate the latest 901 version of the Asus mini-laptop from the 900 model that was released less than two months ago. So now the casework is subtly restyled, giving gentler rounded corners, and the finish is...

The Eee PC 901 remains an attractive proposition for computing on the move. With its larger battery and lower-power processor, it’s not far from achieving a full working day’s use without the use of mains power - and that ought to be the goal for any...

Still haven't decided on the right mini laptop for you? Thanks to the latest Eee PC, that decision just got a lot harder…

The original and still the best by a good margin, just not a £120 one

Asus - EeePC 901 on Orange mobile broadband

Asus can be credited with having started the whole netbook idea off (at least in its current incarnation - we haven't forgotten Psion). Even if you want to argue against that proposition, perhaps opting for Intel ...

We think taking on a 24-month contract, when both mobile broadband and the netbook area are so volatile and fast changing, might seem like a bad idea six months down the line. But it is not difficult to see why Asus is at the top of the netbook tree.

Asus Eee 901 : Asus Eee PC 901

So at long last I get to see for a few days one of the biggest talking points of this year. It came with no documentation a Linux operating system and apart from an initial problem with Wireless connectivity it worked flawlessly.

It is 22x17x4cm and weights 1140grams. The screen is 19.5x11.5cm giving the notional 8.9 inch diagonal measurement. The screen is 1024x600. The processor is a 1.6GHz Intel Atom. It has 1GB of RAM. 20GB of storage. A 1.3 mega pixel webcam. 3xUSB ports....
