Aorus X3 Plus v3 review

A 14-inch gaming laptop with GeForce 970M power

Great-looking machine ; Highly portable ; Blazing performance

High screen resolution makes text tricky to read ; Trackpad is a weak link ; Battery life isn't great

The X3 Plus is a highly portable powerhouse of a gaming laptop - if your wallet can handle the price tag.

Smaller than your average gaming laptop, but way more awesome

Spectacular performance ; Slim and light ; Well thought-through

The smallest, slimmest gaming laptop we’ve ever seen - but one that’ll power some epic experiences

Aorus X3 Plus V3 13.9" Gaming Laptop Review

The updated X3 Plus with it's stunning QHD+ high resolution display and ultra portable form factor is another winner for Aorus.

Stunning QHD+ Display ; Very quiet ; Ultra Portable ; Macro Keys ; Impressive Design

A lot of money! ; Not the most powerful ; Poor gaming performance under battery power

The Aorus gaming laptop range is definitely reserved for those wanting the best gaming performance but in the smallest form factor possible. At £1799, for a 13-inch laptop, this is no loose change but the specification, particularly the almost too...

Aorus X3 Plus v3 Notebook Review

Size doesn't matter. It may be less than 14-inches, but the Aorus X3 Plus still performs just as well as many larger gaming models currently available. What compromises must buyers make for this 3200 x 1800 QHD+ 13.9-inch notebook with 3x RAID 0 and...

Great design, Full aluminum case and strong base, High quality QHD IPS screen, Easy-to-use Aorus software for accessible system controls, Powerful CPU and GPU performance with no throttling, Dual video-out ports, Easy maintenance and access to...

Hinges creak easily, Weak lid, Poor traction on touchpad, Loud fan noise when gaming, No 2.5-inch SATA expansion, Reduced performance on battery power, Small keyboard size, Non-removable battery, Pricey

Users have a lot more choices in the larger 17-inch gaming segment, so recommending the Aorus X7 Pro is much more difficult when up against well-established Asus ROG or Alienware models. In this smaller and less crowded 14-inch gaming segment, however,...

Aorus X3 Plus V3 review: Great power in a small package

It might look like the impressive Aorus X7 Pro that we found much to like about, but does the Aorus X3 Plus V3 live up to the standard set by its SLI-ed big brother or is it the black sheep in the family? We check out the capabilities of this compact...

Aesthetically pleasing ; High specifications ; Slim design, relatively lightweight

High temperature concerns ; Gets dirty easily ; Shallow keyboard

If you've always lamented that a 17-inch machine like the Aorus X7 Pro might be too bulky and large to lug around to use for work and play, the compact Aorus X3 Plus V3 is the answer to your prayers. It's like a mini version of the Aorus X7 Pro, just...

Superb 13" Gaming Laptop/Workhorse

This is a fantastic laptop. I'm an IT guy and I don't feel like a child pulling out a flashy ridiculous looking toy in front of my clients. The sleek black design is fantastic. The matte finish gets very fingerprinty very quickly so keep the provided...

Sleek, low-key, non-obnoxious (Alienware-esque) design. Very sturdy. Screen resolution is fantastic. Minimal pre-installed software (Adobe Reader for the pre-installed user manual, CyberLink DVD, and AORUS proprietary control panel for key macros,...

Exhaust" slits on the rear get VERY hot when gaming, Killer NIC on ethernet interface but Intel wifi (why no killer chip for Wifi?), Not entirely clear how to redeem Witcher 3, keyboard keys don't appear to be evenly flat (looks wavy -- not sure if...

Four Stars

I'd probably still recommend this computer despite the lower build quality. I'm coming from a Mac, (which is unrivaled in build quality) so maybe people upgrading from a windows laptop wouldn't notice or they might even think this is an improvement.

Super fast. Fast storage, fast graphics, fast cpu ; Can run witcher 2 on full at 1440p without much problem (not counting vertical sync or AA). I don't have fraps or anything, so I don't know the fps. But I don't notice any low frame rates. I had the...

Kinda cheaply made ; Keyboard flex is an issue at one spot near the bottom right ; Screen is a weak and flimsy ; Keyboard backlight is spotty with many keys not being evenly lit ; Keyboard is a touch rattly ; Screen doesn't open that far do to massive...

Amazing Power under 5lbs

Woud love to see this priced at just under $2k, paying $2.3k was a tough pill to swallow. Fitting all this in a 14in form factor requires comprimises in certain areas so any deficiency due to this accomplishment is really nitpicking at this point....

Amazing power under 5lbs in a 14in form factor. The specs speak for themselves. Love the screen, love the keyboard although the arrow keys are very minimized. Battery life is improved compared to prior generations of gaming laptops. RJ-45 onboard...

Unit will get warm but the heat management is much easier and better when compared to units that use the 800 series of mobile GPU. My only real drag about this system is the lack of Blu-ray option. If they can manage to fit a DVD in here they can at...
