Alienware 15

Alienware has just re-jigged its gaming laptop offering, ditching its 18-inch and 14-inch models and replacing them with new slimmer 15-inch and 17-inch variants, to add to the Alienware 13 that arrived last year.

Superb build quality ; Gamer' oriented design remains stylish ; Excellent performance ; High quality screen and keyboard ; Good value

Heavy and fairly thick for the performance level ; No optical drive ; Speakers have fairly weak bass

Alienware 15 review: Bigger, but not necessarily better

The new Alienware 15 ticks all the right boxes for a gaming laptop: it's stylish, it's fast and powerful and it's covered in LED lighting. It's one flaw, however, is that it's a little bigger than your average 15-inch gaming machine. If you can live...

Fast and powerful ; Excellent build quality ; Great screen for high performance gameplay

Larger than most 15-inch machines ; Poor battery life ; 1080p display has shallow viewing angles

The Alienware 15 is almost everything you could ask for in a midsize gaming laptop. It's a stylish, powerful machine with the latest GPU architecture, Intel's new seventh-gen CPUs and a fantastic build quality -- it's just a little large for a machine...

Alienware 15 R3 review: A 15-inch tank, ready to roll into battle

With the power of a larger laptop in a chunky but compact chassis, the Alienware 15 is ready to rout.

The Alienware 15 makes the most of its components, and it has a well-designed lighting scheme. Plus, it comes with a decent G-Sync monitor, and it can drive an external display at a high refresh rate and with G-Sync.

It's on the heavy side at 7.8 pounds, the battery life is middling, and its fans are loud.

A solid if somewhat uninspiring gaming laptop, the Alienware 15 is a good choice when you need fast performance but not the big screen.

Alienware 15 (2016)

Intel's new Kaby Lake processors and Nvidia's Pascal graphics have made it possible for Alienware to pack full VR capability into its 15-inch gaming notebook.

Thinner than other Alienware gaming laptops. Nice redesign. Many customization options.

No per-key backlighting.

Alienware has not yet released pricing information for this laptop, but it seems safe to assume it will cost about the same as the current incarnation of the laptop: $1,199.99. We named the 2015 Alienware 15 our Editors' Choice for entry-level gaming...

Alienware 15

The latest Alienware 15 is hefty, but it delivers everything you want in a gaming laptop, with excellent performance, long battery life, and all sorts of customizable features.

Solid design. Excellent gaming performance. Full HD display is well suited to gaming. Customizable lighting and macro commands. Good sound quality. Sizable storage. Graphics are upgradable with Alienware's external Graphics Amplifier.

Heavy. No touch capability.

Conclusion While the Alienware 15 is about as pricey as an entry-level gaming laptop can get—$1,500 is pretty much the cutoff before you enter midrange—it delivers what you want from a gaming rig: superior gaming performance, best-in-class battery...

Alienware 15 (2015)

While it's bigger and heavier than gaming notebooks of similar size, the Alienware 15 offers solid graphics performance for less than the competition.

Highly customizable; Optional Graphics Amplifier; More affordable than the competition; High-quality audio

Runs very hot; Heavy

Alienware 15 (R9 M295X) Notebook Review

Comeback. The mobile high-end market is dominated by Intel and Nvidia. Alienware is one of the few manufacturers who offer GPUs from AMD as well. We ordered the 15-inch version of the notebook with the GTX 970M rival Radeon R9 M295X to check out the...

Optional graphics amplifier, Extensively illuminated, Up to three mass storage devices, IPS panel with lots of contrast, USB stick with Recovery SW, High-end chassis, Good input devices, Good sound, Useful tools, Powerful battery

Position of the keyboard takes getting used to, Not easy to maintain, Battery runs on empty quickly under load, CPU throttling during the stress test, Many issues with drivers (AMD), Processor and GPU are soldered on, Moderate emissions, No SSD

Alienware 15 Review

Dell's Alienware team delivers a 15-inch gaming laptop that might actually replace a desktop thanks to an upgradable Graphics Amplifier docking station. Keep reading to find out what we love about this notebook.

Excellent build quality ; Great keyboard and display ; Fantastic gamer-focused performance ; "Upgradeable" with external Graphics Amplifier

Thicker and heavier than competitors ; Adequate but unimpressive speakers considering the size and weight ; No optical drive ... considering the size and weight

Alienware 15 Notebook Review

Galactic? A bit late, but Alienware now also upgrades its premium laptops with the GeForce 900M line. As one of the first editorial offices, we had the opportunity to test the 15-inch model and the graphics amplifier. These are our impressions.

Optional graphics amplifier, Input device quality, Up to three storage devices, High-contrast IPS screen, Large wrist rest, Outstanding performance, Moderate temperatures, Recovery on USB flash drive, High-quality chassis, Lush illumination, Decent...

Unusual keyboard positioning, Somewhat awkward maintenance, Battery not directly accessible, Relatively loud in 3D operation, SSD could be faster, CPU and GPU soldered

In contrast to the Alienware 13, the 15-inch model does not suffer under its CPU. The Core i7-4710HQ is strong enough to even cope with demanding games like Assassin's Creed Unity. Thus, the graphics amplifier also has a right to exist. Some games will...

It's a great time to be a PC gamer, or at least a fan of PC gaming hardware. Desktops are flying off the shelves, thanks to the popularity of virtual reality headsets among tech early adopters. Companies such as Nvidia and AMD have new graphics...
