Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG

An Intel Core i5 processor and switchable graphics power this 14-inch laptop to five hours battery life.

Very powerful ; Metal-finished lid ; Switchable graphics

Poor build quality ; Graphics switching complicated ; No eSATA

For wired connectivity you get a generous four USB ports, but none of them support eSATA or standby charging. These are joined by HDMI and VGA for video, a Gigabit Ethernet port, two audio jacks (1x microphone, 1x headphone/SPDIF) and a memory card...

Acer Aspire 4820TG notebook

The Acer Aspire 4820TG is a product of continued refinement from the computing giant. Acquisitions and rebranding have taken place in the attempt to move the "Acer" branded machines away from the bargain basement end of the market (where eMachines...

Fusion of power and portability, graphics power, trackpad is nice

A little too much flex at this price point

Compact, well specced and fairly lightweight (just over 2kg), the Acer Aspire 4820TG makes a tempting proposal for those who want to travel and not compromise on performance too much. An obvious downside is the construction quality, with a little too...

The Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG laptop sells for a price of £800 inc VAT with one year international warranty. It is not only thin compared to other 14-inch laptops - like the Dell Studio 14, Dell Inspiron 14R and MSI CX420 - but packs in quite a...

Acer Aspire 4820TG

This I am told will give you 12 hours of battery life, I never got beyond six hours or so, so I assume there are two battery combinations available. I did test it several times hence the slightly longer than normal review period.

I am not a huge McAfee fan but of course you do need security and it works

Acer Timeline X 4820TG

Good overall battery performance, but figures do vary greatly with the CPU choices in this range.

Timeline X makes significant advances over the original Timeline models with thanks to the Core i3/i5/i7 CPU options and ATi Radeon HD 5650 graphics. Internals aside, the build quality and design of the chassis strike me as very average. More...

Acer TimelineX 4820T

With the stamina of an eight hour battery life as well as the more than capable processor offering intelligent performance the Acer TimelineX 480T is really the best of both worlds. Overall, delivering a powerful laptop in a thin and light chassis,...

The laptop packs the latest and greatest in processing technology and at the same time remaining thin, light weight and portable it truly is the best of both worlds

With a screen size of 14.1” inches you would expect the laptop to be aimed at serious mobile users, most likely businessmen, yet by not including firewire, an ExpressCard port or no means of adding one and no 3G ability it seems Acer have missed their...
