More screen than you have the right to expect at this price
Large display ; Reasonably good value
Not overly portable ; Lacking in memory
A large-screened laptop, but the specification failed to live up to expectations

A large, comfortable and well-made desktop replacement
Dedicated graphics card ; Comfortable to use ; Good storage amount
Battery life could be better ; Keyboard flexes under pressure ; Runs quite warm
An affordable machine that serves well in most areas

When we think of desktop replacement notebooks, we think of high-end machines sporting the latest in processing power and features with a large panel display sitting on the top of it. If you were looking to replace your desktop PC with a large screen...
Large screen, great value for money
Build is basic, not that powerful
If you were looking to replace your desktop PC with a large screen notebook, we’d suggest having a bigger budget than £500, as the Acer Aspire 9304WSMi didn’t really impress.

There's no getting away from the colossal size of the Acer Aspire 9303, and it's all thanks to the 17-inch screen. This model measures 400 x 294 x 42mm and weighs in at a hefty 3.6kg, ...
Acer has packed a decent amount of computing power inside this laptop but the combination of AMD and Nvidia hardware puts a strain on the battery. Despite an enormous chassis that should be able to accommodate a huge battery, Acer has ended up with a...

Beat it, desktops. The Aspire 9300 does everything you can do, and it's portable. Well, just barely. This mammoth is wide enough to accommodate a...
Seventeen-inch, 1440 x 900 resolution screen is a joy to watch. 120GB hard drive. Touchpad has horizontal and vertical scrolling zones. 1.3-megapixel webcam actually makes you look good in video conference calls. Four USB ports and 5-in-1 media reader...
Big mofo won’t fit in most carry-on bags. Ginormous keyboard still feels cramped. Designed as a media desktop but conspicuously lacking any dedicated media controls. No Firewire port

The Aspire 9300-5005 delivers plenty of usability, if not speed, for $949 (as of April 11, 2007). Equipped with a 1.6-GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 processor and only 1GB of memory, it's a bit slow for a desktop replacement, but it provides plenty of...
Great built-in Webcam ; Strong battery life
Only 1GB of memory hurts performance ; Dissapointing built-in speakers
The Aspire 9300 is suited to basic work and entertainment needs. Its limited performance is offset by strong battery life.

Great built-in Webcam, Strong battery life
Only 1GB of memory hurts performance, Dissapointing built-in speakers
This well-rounded desktop replacement is very affordable, but its performance wasn't great.

The Acer Aspire 9300-5005 desktop replacement laptop sports a beautiful 17-inch screen and a low price tag, but second-rate components make it best for someone with modest multimedia needs.
17-inch screen for $1,000. Built-in number pad. Webcam on top of the screen.
Slow AMD processor. Bland design. Weak speakers. Below-average performance.
