The Toshiba Satellite P105-ST9722's frame rates--not its design--are what's impressive about this gaming laptop.
Excellent gaming scores. Relatively light gaming laptop. Gorgeous 17-inch widescreen. DVI-D out.
Dull design. Should offer a standard HD DVD drive with the price or at least as an option.
The dull looks might not impress you, but the Toshiba Satellite P105-ST9722 is a hard-core gaming laptop that churns out excellent frame rates.

Toshiba laptops are wildly popular and for a reason: They offer good quality and they're eminently affordable. The $1649 (as of April 11, 2007) Toshiba Satellite P105-S6217 isn't a high concept notebook, but it makes an excellent second PC at home or a...
Relatively light and affordable ; Included TV tuner and remote
Not configurable ; No Bluetooth or WWAN communications
This reasonably priced desktop replacement has good multimedia features, including an HDTV tuner, but performance was modest.

Toshiba launched its gaming-oriented Satellite P105 line earlier this year, and when we looked at the Satellite P105-S921 in April, we were impressed by its solid frame rates and relatively low price. With the latest iteration in the line, the...
Reasonably priced; bright display; complete set of A/V controls, ports, and connections; attractive illuminated case; strong gaming performance.
Display resolution could be higher; speaker volume not very loud; small touch pad and mouse buttons; no touch pad on/off button.
The Toshiba Satellite P105-S9722 will bring you close to top-of-the-line gaming performance at nearly half the cost of hard-core gaming rigs.

A terrific screen, rich sound, and superior performance make the Satellite P105-S921 gaming notebook from Toshiba really stand out. The system's $1999 price--quite reasonable considering what you get for it--only sweetens the deal.
Terrific screen ; Rich sound
Bulky
The Satellite P105-S921 packs a lot of power and does so at a price that makes it worth a very close look

The Toshiba Satellite P105 is an affordable alternative to a $4,000 gaming laptop.
Reasonably priced; bright display; complete set of A/V controls, ports, and connections; attractive illuminated case; strong gaming performance.
Display resolution could be higher; speaker volume not very loud; small touch pad and mouse buttons; no touch pad on/off button.
The Toshiba Satellite P105 offers a thorough set of features and strong gaming performance at a relatively affordable price.

One disappointment, though, is the P105-S921's 1,440-by-900 resolution screen. Your games will look noticeably better, for example, on the XPS M1710's display, with its 1,920-by-1,200 pixel TFT. The P105-S921 does come with a number keypad, which I...
Very good gaming scores. Light-up touchpad. Relatively affordable for a gaming notebook
Slow hard drive
If you don't have the budget for the new Dell XPS 1710, the P105-S921 is a more affordable yet powerful gaming rig.

The screen hinges are very tight, ensuring you won't get a wobbly screen when typing on this notebook. A latch also ensures that the lid stays firmly closed
Nice design with the Blue Onyx lid, looks thinner than it actually is with the sloping front ; Speakers provide quality sound ; Very sturdy body and no flexing to the case ; Flexible options and configurations to fit anyone's budget and requirements ;...
Fan has weird behavior, will kick in and out quickly and can get annoying ; Battery life of only 1 hour is poor ; A ton of junk software pre-installed slows the system down ; Keyboard has some flex issues and odd sized buttons on the right side
It's great that you can configure the P100 in so many ways, from a $1,999 machine with an Nvidia Go 7900GTX card to a $999 budget model with Windows Vista Basic installed. No matter how you configure it you get a laptop that's built well and will be...

The P105 was purchased to replace a six-year old Compaq. I wanted a desktop replacement notebook with 17-inch screen to allow comfortable viewing of two documents side-by-side. Other models I considered included the Dell Inspiron e1705. Factors...
The extra gigabyte of memory had no impact on 3-D Mark 05, 3 Mark 06 or super pi. It did help slightly on PC Mark 05. As expected, the reduced power modes for the 7900 GS resulted in substantial decreases in performance on 3-D testing. These modes...
