Though it packs durable keycaps and satisfying Cherry switches, the S.T.R.I.K.E. 4 mechanical keyboard from the resurrected Mad Catz needs more spice to stand out in a crowded field.
Solid build quality. Responsive Cherry MX switches and well-made "doubleshot" keycaps. Per-key-programmable RGB backlighting. Lighting shows deep color saturation.
Software needs modernization. Lacks premium features like USB passthrough and media keys.
Bottom Line: Though it packs durable keycaps and satisfying Cherry switches, the S.T.R.I.K.E. 4 mechanical keyboard from the resurrected Mad Catz needs more spice to stand out in a crowded field.

Mad Catz won us over with its resurrected RAT mouse line earlier this year, but the Strike 4 is a bit too generic and feature-limited to make much of an impression.
Legitimate Cherry MX switches ; Modern exposed-backplate design ; More usable than some older Mad Catz keyboards
No media keys ; A bit generic ; Price falls into a weird gray area
The Strike 4 is a perfectly fine keyboard but nothing about it really stands out. I find that disappointing. The Rat mouse is so weird and unique, and I wish Mad Catz could inject that same quality into its keyboard offerings.
