Very Concerned

We bought the iron as it was the only one we could find with a stainless base (we have found teflon to wear off and eventually become sticky). It has never been particuarlly good on steam, but we made do. Until last saturday when it caught on fire. It...

Stainless Steel Base

Poor steam supply, caught fire!

Was an okay iron

Was doing some patchwork yesterday and the material singed a little, so turned it down but nothing happened and then smoke starting billowing out of the iron. Quickly turned it off, but it was still smoking so took it outside where it continued to...

one doesn't expect an iron to catch fire

Terrible

The warranty is handy, as like other reviewers, I was forced to get a replacement within warranty period for various problems: The steam function gives up midway through a job for a nap, despite the reservoir being far from empty (try half full), and...

Stainless steel soleplate, long cord, has a warranty

Steam function, while powerful, is erratic and prone to Nanna Naps. Cord overly prone to kinking, despite never being wrapped around the iron.

Terrible

Since I'm not fond of having our house burn down around us, I am off today to purchase a new iron. Guess what brand I won't be buying?

Plenty of steam

I was a little disappointed when it started spewing toxic smoke all over the room this morning. Luckily I was present and able to turn it off and get it out of the house. It's not even two years old. Made in China. Not good.

Bad

Having only ever had Sunbeam irons for 40 years, I am finding their lifespan has decreased considerably. I now suspect there is an "inbuilt clock" that switches their products "permanantly off" immediately after the warranty period has elapsed! This...

Physical sturdiness, yet lightweight.

1) Stopped working just out of warranty. 2) "Hot" setting was never hot enough for linen and denim. 3) Occasionally lost heat, then leaked through steam holes, even though iron was in use and not sitting idle.

I don't know if all sunbeams are like this now or i just got a dud but mine constantly leaks water when you are ironing. It just doesn't stop. I get paranoid i will electrocute myself. The iron otherwise works well but i just can't get over it leaking...

Stainless steel sole plate, fast heat-up. Irons well

Constantly leaks water even when the iron is hot enough. Because it leaks so much you need to fill it more often

Bad

The first one stopped working (didn't heat up) after less than 1 month. Swapped it at the Good Guys no problems. Hopefully better luck with the new one!

Beeps and turns off if left on, long cord, holds a fair bit of water, stainless steel plate

Steam doesn't seem consistant - not enough, then too much. May be a part of the reason why it stopped working?
