A nice iron, but . . .

 

I had previously owned a Rowenta and decided to purchase a less expensive iron.  I do a lot of ironing and I loved my Rowenta!  The Black & Decker D1700 is a very good iron, heats up quickly and more than adequate for tough wrinkles like on linen...

Nice weight.Stable when sitting on ironing board.Price was

Couldn't decide between this iron and the T-Fal Ultraglide Diffusion, so I took them both home and tested them out. This one heats up quickly, with an audible beep when it reaches the correct temperature, and did a nice job with the ironing, but I...

audible beep , clear read-out, reasonably long cord, easy to access fill spout, heel rest

Smaller sole plate, so-so glide, a bit heavy, hard to see into reservoir

COST: Purchased at BJ's in Dedham, MA in Nov 07 for $35.

Solid feeling, easy to use and stable when sitting up vertically on your ironing board
