Sony's debut soundbase is feature-packed but sonically flawed
Generous feature list ; Superb build quality ; Dynamic, detailed sound
Brash treble ; Bass integration could be better
Sony’s HT-XT1 is an attractive, well-made and feature-packed affair with a crisp, attacking sound, but sonic flaws deny it a place at the soundbase top table.

A stylish, feature-packed answer to the budget soundbase question
Great build and design Well featured Large soundfield Punchy, exciting sound
Hard edge to treble Midrange could be better integrated
Sony’s hit the ground running with the HT-XT1. We really like this soundbase: the wealth of connections, features and the smart design make it an attractive buy, and the punchy, energetic sound is bound to have its fans. It’s worth an audition.

As televisions get slimmer and less "audio friendly," the demand for a separate sound system has increased significantly. Sound bars have been around for a while and have quickly become popular as an easy step-up over a TV's built-in speakers. But they...
The Sony HT-XT1 sound stand offers solid performance for both movies and music. It's also loaded with features, including three HDMI inputs and built-in Bluetooth with NFC support. The design is sleek, including a subtle front panel display and an...
There's no separate subwoofer and no ability to add one later, which means it can sometimes sound thinner than system with a true sub. Occasionally dialogue can also sound less intelligible than other sound bars at this price.
Sony's HT-XT1 sound stand is packed with features, looks sleek, and sounds great, making it a no-brainer upgrade over your TV's built-in speakers.

The Sony HT-XT1 is a sound base with built-in subwoofers, designed for TVs sized 32-inches or smaller. In our testing, we found that this sound base has plenty of power, but is it to the detriment of the fine detail of its sound? Find out how this...

The Sony HT-XT1 under-HDTV speaker system adds audio power and extra HDMI ports to your television, but its performance is underwhelming.

Preview: If the Sony name on the HT-CT770 SoundBar with Wireless sub and HT-XT1 Sound Platform don't sell units, the prices certainly will. At $449 and $299 respectively, these are priced to move.

Size and design
BlCould not get it to work properly even though supposed to interface with our model of TV. Sub woofer not very good
Consumer review (reevoo.com)
Impressed by the sound quality for the price.
The interface with our Samsung tv is a bit temperamental but I can't say which device is to blame.
