Tiny speakers and top performance make this system a winner
Pictures ; Sound ; Easy to use ; Small satellite speakers
Price ; No SACD playback ; Lacks upscaling to 1080p
A unique proposition with sound quality that beggars belief, but it’s a touch on the expensive side

You'll be astounded by the scale of sound the Sony's tiny speakers manage to produce – a superb solution for smaller rooms where space is tight
The most ridiculously small satellite speakers we’ve ever seen ; great usability ; very good performance
Some price rivals with bigger boxes can beat it for scale and detail
A blindingly innovative and effective solution to one of home cinema’s perennial problems

The teeny tiny satellites from Sony's new home cinema system are barely bigger than golf balls, but pack a sound as punchy as a Tiger Woods drive
This home theatre system's satellites fill your room with incredible sound, without filling it with incredibly large speakers

The DAV-IS10 is a home theatre system featuring compact satellite loudspeakers the size of golf balls. An innovative speaker technology provides for surround sound without the dominating presence of loudspeakers. The user can enjoy 5.1 channel surround...

Sony DAV-IS10 is home cinema system made out of solid materials. The DVD unit of the system is finished and compact in glossy black, like all the rest of the system, with a row of touch-sensitive controls on the top portion with a disc loading slot up...
You’ll love the near-HD video quality and seismological bass, your other half will love the unobtrusive satellite speakers, and everyone will appreciate a classy disc unit that doesn’t look like it was designed by a ten-year old. Classy. Sony DAV-IS10...

Even the stylish main unit, which carries a front-loading disc drawer and touch sensitive controls for an integrated DVD player, measures only 21cm wide. The diminutive dimensions of the surrounding system are granted by a larger powered system that...
Stylish and discreet design, ease of use, superb sound and picture performance
No 1080p upscaling

If you live in a space constrained environment, Sony's DAV-IS10 may be a great home theatre solution for you. While the audio quality isn't incredible it is definitely above average, and the tiny speakers will fit in basically any location, bringing...
Good bass, tiny speakers, nice surround
Flat mid range and treble, not a 'big' sound, receiver lacks features
Expert review by : Ty Pendlebury (cnet.com.au)
The Sony DAV-IS10 is a likeable system with incredibly tiny speakers but it stops quite short of a hearty recommendation.
Very cute ; Surround sound is impressive ; Small, easy to hide satellites
Large, impossible-to-hide sub ; DVD performance isn't up to par ; Silver wiring stands out in any living space ; No HDMI or video switching
Lastly, external sources were reasonably well served, on the other hand, and feeding a Monster optical cable to an external tuner demonstrated that dialogue from digital TV was intelligible, but perhaps a little thin.

Sony is muscling in on the pint-sized speaker segment of the "home theatre in a box" market.
Consumer review (reevoo.com)
Great quality, small speakers great sound, great weight - love this system
large base box, system on TV has to be turned up to enjoy full surround sound (not easy when you have a three year old)- it would have been perfect if it was wireless
