LG unleashes the first soundbase with a built-in Blu-ray deck
Stylish slimline design ; Generous features and sockets ; Generally entertaining sound
Disjointed bass and overpowering treble ; Expensive ; Limited catch-up TV apps
Best Soundbars and Soundbases.

Big, powerful sound ; Blu-ray player built in ; Plenty of smart features ; Wi-fi and DLNA
Sound is unconvincing ; Needs better integration across frequency range
Plenty of exciting features here, but the sound quality isn’t up to standard

Has LG just killed-off the soundbar?
Wireless subwoofer ; Netflix & Amazon Instant apps ; Bluetooth music streaming ; Good quality bass, dialogue & music
Lacks catch-up TV apps ; No Magic Remote ; One HDMI input
LG hasn't skimped on the 3D Blu-ray player inside the SoundPlate. Sound quality is serious too, and it's plenty smart enough when it comes to apps. It would benefit from an extra HDMI input or two, and a few more UK-centric apps.

Convenient convergence product; decent Smart hub and VOD features; sounds better than your telly; HDMI inputs
Minor operational niggles; average high-frequency performance; lack of integration between sub and soundbase; harsh sound at high volumes

For the best sound performance put in a BluRay disk - very satisfying...
An extra HDMI in port would have been useful!

Good overall sound tidy, modern looking unit and a wireless sub system.
The lack of manual adjustment to the sound....can't alter bass and treble levels and only 3 presets to select.

Good sound from TV. Music CD good quality. Blue Ray and Blue Ray 3D play back excellent. The equipment is neat compact unobtrusive and blends into the décor. The purchase price is good value and is much better than a Soundbar setup. Once the set up is...
The CD software did not work well when loaded into my PC.The instructions supplied with the kit are a bit skimpy. After contacting LG I down loaded data, but it was a real pain .
