Sony WH-XB900N review

More bass, less taste

Very good battery life ; Good sound width and imaging ; Comfortable

Active noise cancellation isn’t very effective ; Slow charging ; Flabby, inflated bass

More bass and less taste than their WH-1000XM3 brothers, but these headphones are still engaging and very comfortable

Sony XB900N review: Solid noise cancellation for under $300

Bass lovers will have plenty to like about the XB900N's emphasis on low-end tone. However, what you can get for $100 more on the 1000XM3 is worth the extra cost, especially in regards to noise cancellation. Plus, the bass-heavy tuning isn't for...

Great sound quality for the price ; Clear voice audio for calls ; Option for dedicated Google Assistant/Alexa button ; No quick-charge features

Touch controls are still frustrating ; Extra Bass can be exhausting ; Noise cancellation isn’t as powerful as the 1000XM3 ; Takes seven excruciating hours to fully charge

Sony WH-XB900N

Sony's wireless WH-XB900N headphones deliver powerful bass response and solid noise cancellation for the price.

Solid ANC with adjustable levels. Quality audio performance, especially if you like boosted bass. Excellent mic intelligibility. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant support.

Way too much bass unless you adjust the EQ.

Do Sony's WH-XB900N headphones offer the best ANC on the market? No, the edge still belongs to Bose, and we'll even say that, in certain scenarios, the Apple AirPods Pro are more effective. That said, this is still very high-quality ANC, and, unlike...

Sony WH-XB900N wireless headphones review: A feature-rich pair for the bassheads

A comfortable pair of wireless headphones that offers more than just thumping bass

Good audio quality with ample bass ; Wide codec support including aptX HD and LDAC ; Excellent battery life ; Smart touch controls ; Fairly comfortable to wear

Extra bass can be overbearing at times ; ANC could have been better

Sony WH-XB900N Wireless Review

The Sony WH-XB900N Wireless are fairly versatile headphones and are a more affordable alternative to the Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless. While they feel more plasticky...

Great app support with customization options. Over 38-hour continuous battery life. Comfortable design.

Sub-par passive soundstage. No multi-device pairing. Can only receive audio when using their TRS cable. Very long recharge time. Not very breathable. ANC struggles to cut down bus and plane engine noise.

The Sony WH-XB900N are okay for neutral sound. These headphones have a bass-heavy sound profile, which is better-suited for genres like EDM, dubstep, and hip-hop than for more neutral audio reproduction. Luckily, you can tweak their sound to your...

Sony WH-XB900N headphone review: Not quite as good as the WH-1000MX3, but $100 cheaper

Can't afford Sony's $350 WH-1000XM3 noise-canceling headphone? Its $250 WH-XB900N has a similar design and many of the same features for less.

The Sony WH-XB900N Extra Bass has a similar design to the WH-1000XM3 and shares many of its features but costs $100 less. It's a comfortable headphone, has USB-C charging, good battery life and effective noise-canceling. It works well as a headset for...

Too much bass for some people. Lacks the premium feel of the still-awesome WH-1000XM3.

The Sony WH-XB900N Extra Bass is a solid noise-canceling headphone, but it doesn't quite hit the same heights as its industry-leading step-up sibling.

Sony WH-XB900N review: How much bass is too much bass?

The Sony Wh-XB900N is a bass-heavy altnerative to the company's flagship noise-cancelling headphones with excellent microphone quality.

Build quality ; Great noise cancelling and isolation ; Touchpad works well and ambient mode is useful ; LDAC, aptX, aptX HD support

Extreme bass emphasis ; Earpads heat up quickly ; Granular EQ adjustments default down to SBC streaming

These share many of the same features of Sony’s flagship noise-cancelling headphones, but are significantly more bass-heavy and cheaper. The sound signature and design makes the WH-XB900N a worthy Beats competitor.

Review: Sony WH-XB900N | Good Noise-cancelling Has Become Cheap Sony WH-XB900N

Sony's budget model Sony WH-XB900N borrows from the luxury model and thus becomes impossible to beat.

Good build quality and convenience. Easy handling. Feature-rich app. Excellent sound and noise reduction.

Well dominant bass if you do not adjust down EQ.

While Sony’s luxury model is the king of noise reduction, the WH-XB900N is the rebellious prince. Thanks to the same shape, they sit comfortably even for longer periods of time, the battery life is excellent and the handling is surprisingly good...
