Sony WF-SP800N review: Sony's cheaper true wireless buds are still a treat

Ignore the somewhat gawky looks and the Sony WF-SP800N are a bit of a bargain

Sony WF-SP800N review

These talented all-rounders aim to please everyone

Vibrant, buoyant sound ; Good noise-cancelling ; Comfortable fit

Slightly coarse sound ; Average battery life

The WF-SP800N don’t have great battery life or discreet good looks, but their vigorous, subtle and dynamic sound is a fine counter-punch

Sony WF-SP800N review

Sony's latest workout earbuds offer active noise cancellation and support for the company's spatial audio format, 360 Reality Audio.

Basic noise cancellation Water-resistant and sweatproof Support for 360 Reality Audio

Tight in the ear A little too bass-heavy Battery life could be better

The Sony WF-SP800N are a sweat-resistant pair of true wireless earbuds that have both active noise cancellation and support for Sony's spatial audio format, 360 Reality Audio. Could one pair of earbuds please both workout enthusiasts and audiophiles?...

Sony WF-SP800N review: Smart and sporty true wireless headphones

Loaded with smart Sony tech to manage background noise. Are these the headphones for you?

Good noise-cancellation tech ; Great ambient sound system ; App offers lots of customisation ; Great bass and sound quality ; IP55 dust/water resistant

Case is really chunky ; Headphones seem larger than they need to be ; Controls won't cover all your needs

These sporty in-ears offer a lot of Sony's smart ambient sound control and the noise-cancellation tech is the real star. Battery life is only average though, which is surprising given the size of the case. Overall these 'buds sound great and offer...

Sony WF-SP800N review: Elite earbuds for every athlete

It's hard to beat Sony's WF-1000XM3 true wireless earbuds, but with ANC, waterproofing, monster battery life, and great sound, Sony's WF-SP800N come very close.

Great sound ; Class-leading battery life ; Very good water and dust protection ; Good active noise cancellation ; Excellent call quality

Bulky charging case ; No wireless charging

Sony WF-SP800N review: Feature-packed earbuds at an affordable price

Sony's new mid-range model offers a lot of high-end features at an affordable price. The WF-SP800N are designed to withstand your sweaty workouts with the company's powerful Adaptive Sound Control on top of great sound quality, reliable touch controls...

Price ; Deep punchy bass ; Powerful ANC ; 360 Reality Audio compatibility ; Loads of premium features

Awkward fit ; On-board volume controls requires sacrifice ; No wireless charging

Sony WF-SP800N review: noise cancellation for your workouts

Unlike the 1000XM3s, these have proper water and sweat resistance.

Secure, comfortable fit ; Adequate noise cancellation ; Bass has plenty of oomph for workout playlists

Overall sound quality isn’t as detailed or pleasing as 1000XM3s ; Case lacks wireless charging and only has enough battery for one recharge ; No multipoint Bluetooth pairing

Sony’s SP800N earbuds are the company’s middle-tier set of true wireless earbuds. Like the flagship 1000XM3 buds, these have noise cancellation — but they add water / sweat resistance and longer battery life.

Sony WF-SP800N Review

Powerful audio performance with deep bass and sculpted highs ; Excellent battery life ; Water-resistant build ; App has ANC and EQ controls ; Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant support

Limited controls ; Large charging case offers less extra battery life than usual

Solid noise cancellation, powerful audio performance, and a water-resistant build make the Sony WF-SP800N a strong contender in this price range

While they don't perform quite as well the WF-1000XM3 and lack a little bit of premium touch for their price, the WF-SP800N are very good active noise

While they don't perform quite as well the WF-1000XM3 and lack a little bit of premium touch for their price, the WF-SP800N are very good active noise-canceling true wireless sports earbuds.

Sony WF-SP800N Review: ANC earbuds fitter for fitness

Sony shook things up last year when it launched its first set of true wireless active noise-cancelling earbuds, and now the new WF-SP800N are here to pick up that torch. With waterproofing and a lower price tag, they don't replace the WF-1000XM3 but...

Sound great and Extra Bass lives up to its name ; Active noise cancellation is almost up to WF-1000XM3's ; IP55 water/dustproofing is great for fitness use ; Battery life is epic ; Comfortable, secure fit

Charging case is bulky and lacks Qi ; Doesn't quite match ANC/sound of WF-1000XM3's ; Earbuds are a little heavy and protrude from your ears
