Shure Aonic 50 review – Best noise cancelling headphones for pure sound quality

Shure Aonic 50 review: bulky and lacking in new-fangled features perhaps, but still among the very best noise cancelling headphones

Clean, detailed, explicit sound ; Has ALL of the audio-improving Codecs you could possibly need ; Bomb-proof build quality

Ridiculous number of buttons ; Restricted EQ adjustment ; Unforgiving with poor quality source material

Shure Aonic 50 has perhaps the best sound quality of any noise-cancelling headphones if you want a detailed sound that makes the most of hi-res streaming services. As a result, it can reveal flaws in older/worse recordings and lower-quality streams....

Shure Aonic 50 review: Top cans

If you're looking for some top-sounding over-ear headphones then it's sure worth taking a look at this Shure pair.

Fantastic sound quality ; Effective noise-cancelling ; USB-C input for Hi-Res Audio

Quite pricey ; Not the most portable

Shure's noise-cancelling cans might be expensive, but thanks to reliable day-in-day-out performance we think it's one of the best-sounding pairs of headphones in this price bracket. Sure, the design is a tiny bit bulky, but overall these over-ears have...

Shure Aonic 50 Review

Strong audio performance with rich bass depth and clear, crisp highs ; Solid active noise cancellation ; Comfortable, secure fit

Expensive ; EQ only works when music is played within app

The Shure Aonic 50 headphones deliver excellent audio performance in a comfortable over-ear design, but their noise cancellation is merely good for the high price.

Shure Aonic 50 headphones review

Shure's first wireless ANC headphones are a slam dunk

Mature, comfortable design ; Deep, rich audio ; Great ANC ; Long battery life

Expensive

The Shure Aonic 50 headphones combine rich, deep audio with powerful ANC and long battery life in a stylish, comfortable package.

Shure AONIC 50 Wireless Review

The Shure AONIC 50 are high-end wireless over-ear headphones with a sleek design, premium build quality, and a comfortable fit, not to mention a pretty broad ran...

Compatible with with a broad range of Bluetooth codecs. Parametric EQ in dedicated companion app. Comfortable fit. Easy-to-use controls.

Mediocre ANC. Boomy bass response. Bulky design. Compact soundstage. Poor integrated microphone.

The Shure AONIC 50 are decent for neutral sound. Their out-the-box sound profile isn’t especially neutral, with boomy bass and slightly overemphasized treble, but they can be adjusted through a parametric EQ in their dedicated companion app....

Shure Aonic 50 wireless active noise-cancelling headphone review: Beautiful sound, mediocre noise cancellation

If you value audio performance more than active noise cancelling, the Shure Aonic 50 headphones deserve a listen. Just be aware of a few

Superb sound (while music is playing) ; Comprehensive wireless codec support (including high-res) ; Excellent build quality, materials, and design

Mediocre active noise cancellation performance ; Annoying buzz when connected wirelessly with no source playing ; Tend to get hot during long listening sessions

Shure’s Aonic 50 headphones are built for high-resolution sonic bliss, whether you’re listening with a cable (analog or digital, via a USB-C cable) or wirelessly (via Bluetooth, with support for every Bluetooth codec that matters).

Shure AONIC 50 review: Plush, elegant, and powerful noise-cancelling headphones

Shure has been doing audio for years and the new Shure AONIC 50 wireless noise cancelling headphones show off the company's skills in audio.

The design and look of these is stunning ; High quality materials used in construction ; Easy to use and operate ; Great battery life ; Priced competitively and have great value ; These sound great and the ANC works well

The app is fine and it adds some control but I'd prefer audio companies to stop using apps, I know not everyone would agree ; I wish they would collapse down and that the case was smaller. The large case makes it harder to transport them.

The Shure AONIC 50 has the following features and specifications: If you’re looking for an excellent pair of premium entry-level headphones, Shure has your back with the AONIC 50.

Shure Aonic 50 Noise Cancelling Headphones Review: A mixed bag

Shure's Aonic 50 Noise Cancelling headphones are spectacular when you plug them in, but the Bluetooth isn't the best around.

Great sound when plugged in ; comfortable ; Solid build quality

Bluetooth audio is lackluster ; Huge carrying case ; Large design

I still find myself plugging them in and using them a lot -- the sound really is spectacular if you’re fine with using a wired connection.

Shure Aonic 50 Headphones Review

When it comes to noise-cancelling headphones, a few brands come to mind, like Bose and Sony. One audio company that might be overlooked is Shure, especially with their latest Aonic A50 Headphones. Design & Hardware The Shure Aonic 50 headphones use a...

Good sound quality ; Solid noise cancelling but not class-leading ; 20 hrs of battery life ; Comfortable to wear for the most part ; Supports lots of audio codecs

Playback buttons are on the smaller side ; Headphones are bulky and don’t fold up ; The large carry case makes it harder to travel with ; EQ only works for songs on your phone played through the ShurePlus Play app ; On the expensive side

Overall, the Shure Aonic 50 is a solid pair of headphones that offer good sound quality and noise-cancelling but could still use some work.
