Mad Catz FREQ 5 review

The same mad design, but can the sound save them?

Good sound quality ; Solid bass ; Three preset modes work well

Quirky design ; Some design choices could be better ; Volume control too stiff

Mad Catz F.R.E.Q. 5 Gaming Headset

The Mad Catz F.R.E.Q. 5 is a solid, well-designed gaming headset that also works with your smartphone, although the high price is a concern.

Works with both PCs and smartphones easily. Good voice quality. Powerful bass.

Expensive. Treble response suffers from the emphasis on bass.

Mad Catz Cyborg F.R.E.Q. 5 Gaming Headset

Mad Catz is continuing to broaden their Cyborg hardware line-up and up next is the Cyborg FREQ 5 stereo gaming headset. It supports both PC and devices so it's not just your stay-at-home gaming headset. It includes both a USB and 3.5mm analog...

Excellent stereo sound quality ; Built-in controls for volume, equalizer and microphone ; Driver-free ; Braided cords ; Flashy designs that come in a multitude of colors ; Detachable microphone ; Braided cords

Priced towards the higher side ; Limited functionality when using 3.5mm jack ; Limited ear piece adjustments

The Mad Catz Cyborg FREQ 5 has excellent audio quality. Its 50mm Neodymium drivers guarantee deep bass and crisp highs. Compared to competing products, there's very few that work as well as the Mad Catz FREQ 5 out of the box. Since this is a...

Good product overall

Despite the cracking head band I would still recommend this headset over most out there. Unless your spending $200 -300+.

Great sound and design. Removable Mic is handy. The mute button is well placed and the red light is a nice quality of life feature

Head band cracked after a couple months of moderate use. I take care of my stuff and this was a huge disappointment. No reason for this considering the price point

Great Headphones, disregard other reviews

They are built amazing. No one has ever complained about my mic or anything others have said. They still work as flawless as they day I bought them. Take a chance, plus I paid 150 back in the day so their a good price now

Mine don't have a detachable mic, but I don't believe this style has one. They do however have a bendy mic so I just push it out of the way. EZ PZ

Mad Catz F.R.E.Q. 5

over all a good decent headset that has alot of neat options for it. Orginally bought for 114. Price seems to have shot up. Not worth either price. Its a good analog stereo headset. But save your money and get a better 3.5mm or usb headset.

Great Design ; Built like a tank

Sound is not as brilliant as other headphones. Seems very dull as its only stero sound ; Bass is not as big as other have written ; Sound stage seemed very muffled. Some sounds buzzed when plugged into usb

Poor construction

i love the removable mic, the fact that the earphones fold down but the construction is poor at best

I picked up my headset today, you know to put it on and the rubber liner for the top popped down so wonderful now i can see all the wires. wondering why this happened i looked at it and it has a crack going across the top of it, i would expect this...

For the love of the buzz

Construction is very solid i like the cup design and folding over with a flat edge to easily rest on things. The sound playback is crisp and clear

Like everyone else the USB power buzz is a real pain. I have checked and it isn't a bad ground on the usb jack. Turning the power slider down can fix it on your end so you don't have to hear it however if you use any voice chat programs vent, TS, or...
