Dolby Dimension review: Home theater audio in wireless headphones

Dolby's first wireless headphones ooze high-end, but audio latency for certain video services and a high price tag make them a hard sell.

Really well-built and comfy to wear ; Great sound with neat ambient listening mode ; Snazzy magnetic wireless charging dock

Expensive ; Can feel heavy for long use ; Audio lags for some streaming services like YouTube ; Included pouch dumps dust and lint onto headphones

Dolby Dimension review: Excellent sound, exorbitant price

Dolby's Dimension headphones are an enticing blend of outstanding audio and useful features, but the price is too high for many to consider adding these to their collection of binge-watching gear.

Stellar audio quality ; Loaded with features ; Extremely comfortable

Expensive ; Battery life takes a hit with all that tech ; No folding design ; Micro USB and Bluetooth 4.2

Dolby Dimension

The Dolby Dimension wireless headphones are built for technophiles, with excellent sound quality, noise cancellation, head tracking, and the ability to hear your surroundings and media at the same time.

Excellent sound. Comfortable. Easily switched between three different devices. Active noise cancellation with LifeMix for listening to your surroundings. Head tracking 3D audio.

Expensive. No wired connection.

Bottom Line: The Dolby Dimension wireless headphones are built for technophiles, with excellent sound quality, noise cancellation, head tracking, and the ability to hear your surroundings and media at the same time.

Dolby Dimension review: headphones for your home

Dolby's first branded product is a unique pair of wireless headphones

Easily switch between multiple devices ; Comfortable headband and well-padded earcups ; Expansive soundstage that’s ideal for movies and cinema

Difficult to use on the go ; Cannot be connected to two devices at the same time ; LifeMix features don’t completely alleviate the fact that you’re wearing headphones

It’s likely that Dolby will put this kind of technology into other products, including more portable headphones, and that might make me more interested in them. But for now, I’m saving my $600.
