Bowers & Wilkins PI7 review: these T3 Award-winning headphones are the best you can buy

Bowers & Wilkins' PI7 are simply next-level stuff when it comes to sound quality, and have some ingenious features

The best-sounding wireless earbuds yet ; Solid noise cancellation ; Really clever extra features ; Comfortable fit and weight…

…but size is literally too big for some ; No quick ANC/Transparency switch ; Average battery life

Bowers & Wilkins PI7 are a true wireless masterpiece, with some fantastic extra features. But the design of the earbud may be an issue for smaller ears.

Bowers & Wilkins PI7 review

Impressive sound quality comes with a high price tag

Clear, agile, insightful sound ; Classy finish ; Retransmitter case feature

Expensive compared to main rivals ; Occasional sound drop-outs ; Noise-cancelling is basic

Their sound is wonderfully detailed and clear, but on balance we expected more from Bowers & Wilkins’ first premium true wireless earbuds

Bowers & Wilkins PI7 review

The Bowers & Wilkins PI7 are certainly not perfect, but where audio quality is concerned they're closer to perfect than any alternative.

Thoroughly engaging and convincing sound Clever charging case Premium look and feel

Treble response doesn’t need much provocation Unblinkingly expensive Noise cancellation and battery life is nothing special

The fact that the Bowers & Wilkins PI7, with their sky-high price-tag, a control app that’s more style than substance, an incomplete suite of touch controls, and humdrum active noise-cancelling and battery life, must sound incredible to come this close...

Incredible sound Clever charging case

More expensive than rivals Battery life could be better

Bowers & Wilkins PI7 review: Top-end true wireless earbuds

Audiophile brand Bowers & Wilkins has always taken its sweet time in adopting new technologies. Was its move into true wireless worth the wait?

Superb sound quality ; Meaty 9.2mm balanced armature driver in each ear ; Comfortable fit ; Wireless charging case doubles as Bluetooth transmitter

Active noise-cancelling (ANC) is good but not as advanced as others ; Battery life is a little short ; Your bank manager won't love you

These true wireless in-ears are a class-leader in audio performance - if you're willing to pay the weighty price ticket. They don't come with the best active noise-cancelling (ANC) out there, but it's still very good and backed up by truly awesome...

Bowers & Wilkins PI7

The wireless headphone market has been a happy hunting ground for Bowers & Wilkins over the last few years and it was almost an article of faith that the company would debut in the ‘true wireless' earphone market at some point. The arrival of the PI7...

Bowers & Wilkins PI7 review

The British hi-fi brand's debut true wireless earphones are an audiophile's dream with added Bluetooth smarts

Exquisite sound quality ; Clever Bluetooth charging case ; Fantastic build quality

Mediocre battery life ; Really quite expensive ; No volume controls or EQ

Cool features help you forget certain shortfalls on these mighty expensive, but mighty impressive buds from Bowers & Wilkins

Bowers & Wilkins PI7

  (Rating Hidden)

The PI7 from British brand Bowers & Wilkins are about as expensive as truly wireless earbuds get, so you might be wondering if they're good enough to justify the hefty price tag. The manufacturer says these little earpieces have ‘individual amplifiers...

The 22 Best Wireless Earbuds for 2022

After a few years of development, Bowers & Wilkins released a couple of sets of true wireless earbuds in 202: the PI7 ($399) and PI5 ($249). Both are excellent and feature active noise canceling along with a transparency mode. The flagship PI7 has a...

The PI7's case does transform into a Bluetooth transceiver, so you can plug it into your laptop for AptX streaming or an in-flight entertainment system. That's a nice bonus feature (the PI5 doesn't have it), but the Sony is the overall better value....

The Best Wireless Earbuds

WIRELESS EARBUDS ARE one of those ideas that sounded at first like a dream: Pop a tiny little headphone into each ear and listen to music or take calls untethered from everything. The first wireless buds were gigantic, died after a few hours, and had a...

These are some of the best-looking and best-sounding earbuds on the market. You get two dedicated drivers with dedicated amps for a wide and dynamic sound, and AptX Adaptive support for up to 24-bit streaming.
