The Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 have an innovative built-in heart-rate monitor. And as Beats is owned by Apple, the headphones have integrated features in iOS devices or an app you can download if you own an Android phone. But is the high price justified...

After being teased about them last fall, the Powerbeats Pro 2 are finally here, and they should be your next workout earbuds.
Solid, satisfying sound ; Extremely secure, comfortable fit ; Physical buttons ; Heart rate monitoring ; Works well with iOS and Android OS
Case is still bulky ; ANC is not quite as good as competitors
“The Powerbeats Pro 2 are comfortable, secure, and full of features that make them perfect for working out, or even everyday use.”

Apple's first earbuds with heart-rate tracking aren't AirPods, but they offer a lot of the same features via a major design overhaul from Beats.

Apple adds ANC, transparency mode, and heart rate monitoring to its long-awaited Powerbeats Pro 2, while keeping the price at $250.
Update, February 27th: Updated to note that the Powerbeats Pro 2 don’t allow you to simultaneously play music and broadcast heart rate to gym equipment if paired to an iOS device.

The fitness-focused Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 up the ante with noise cancellation, wireless charging, and heart rate monitoring, for bass-forward earbuds that excel at the gym.

Beats' most iconic workout buds are back and better than ever.
Crazy comfy fit. Clear, brash, and dynamic sound. Solid noise canceling. Natural and reliable transparency mode. Loads of Apple-exclusive features like hands-free Siri and device swapping. Beats app and one-touch pairing for Android. Responsive and...
Controls are touchy when inserting the buds. Case is still pretty massive. No adjustable EQ or multipoint pairing. No Auracast for future-proofing. Water resistance could be better.

The Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 delivers a few new features that make them worth the cash, assuming you're looking for this specific set of features, of course.
Ear hook means they stay put even during vigorous exercise ; Active Noise Cancellation works great ; Heart rate monitoring is accurate and useful ; Long battery life
Charging case is still huge ; Eyeglass-wearers may find they rub ; Amateur athletes may find they're expensive overkill

Completely redesigned inside and out, the $250 Powerbeats Pro 2 feature Apple's H2 chip, a new built-in heart-rate sensor and active noise canceling for the first time. Are they better than Apple's AirPods Pro 2?
Improved design and sound quality with smaller case ; Equipped with more powerful H2 chip ; Good noise canceling ; Excellent voice-calling performance ; Heart-rate sensors ; Strong battery life ; Wireless charging
Small percentage of users may not get a tight seal ; Some features missing from AirPods Pro 2 ; More basic Find My feature (no Precision Finding)
