Beats Solo Pro review

Arguably the best Beats headphones to date, Solo Pro is a grand evolution of the company's on-ear offering.

Excellent battery life Impressive ANC performance Stunning design Surprisingly sturdy

Lightning port only Lacks 3.5mm Aux port Headband pressure too firm

After years of minor revisions to the Solo line, Beats has delivered a true reinvention with the Solo Pro. Bringing top-notch adaptive noise cancelling to its on-ear offering for the first time, Beats Solo Pro is a marked step-up from its previous...

Beats Solo Pro review

These Beats have an audio performance to match their design

Full-bodied and clear sound ; Excellent noise-cancelling ; Premium feel

Bettered for timing and dynamics ; Tight fit

It’s not often that bass doesn't appear in the against column for Beats headphones, but this pair is well-balanced and has great noise-cancellation too

Beats Solo Pro review: Feeling supersonic

Beats has revamped its most popular pair of on-ear headphones, adding a premium design touch and advanced features like active noise-cancelling (ANC).

Great sound profile ; Impressive active noise-cancelling (ANC) ; Battery life lives up to expectations ; H1 means easy pairing with Apple products ; Premium design and materials

Design is a tiny bit snug – not great for glasses wearers ; No wired connection ; Lightning port isn't ideal for non-iPhone users ; A little pricey ; Non-adjustable equaliser (EQ)

A very good pair of portable on-ear headphones with great sound and impressive active noise-cancelling (ANC). These on-ears are hard to fault, except for the lack of any wired connection.

Beats Solo Pro review

Best Beats yet?

Detailed ; Engaging sound ; Good noise cancelling, ; Attractive design ; Good battery life and fast charging

Snug fit isn’t the most comfortable ; No way of listening wired out of the box ; iPhones get the best experience ; ANC not adjustable

Noise cancelling and improved sound make these the best Beats yet, but their fit is still a bit too close for comfort

Beats Solo Pro Review: Amazing noise cancellation comes at a price

There's a ton to like about Beats Solo Pro if you can get past one major issue.

Active noise cancellation is far better than you'd expect for on-ear headphones • 22 hours of battery life • Transparency mode when you want to let the sound in

$300 headphones should include an audio cable • Uncomfortably tight fit

Beats Solo Pro headphones have amazing noise cancellation abilities that unfortunately come at the expense of comfort.

Beats Solo Pro review: Better Beats

Beats' latest entry to its most popular line of headphones is the Beats Solo Pro, succeeding the Solo 3 Wireless. It now sports active noise-cancellation.

Comfortable for most users ; Active noise-canceling works well ; Turns off when folded ; Better sound than prior Beats

Beats Solo Pro review

The Solo Pro is Beats most impressive set of headphones to date. There's a lot of features and tech packed in for solid noise cancellation, hands-free Siri and great sound quality. However, the nature of the on-ear design is that they have to pinch...

Excellent sound ; Improved design ; Solid ANC ; Hands-free Siri

Uncomfortable (especially for big heads) ; No 3.5mm jack for wired use ; No companion app for customization ; No automatic pausing

Beats Solo Pro review: beat the noise

If they fit you comfortably, these are the best Beats headphones yet.

Nicer design than past Beats headphones ; Effective noise cancellation ; Enjoyable sound quality ; Increased sweat resistance

Significant clamping force on your ears ; Might be too small for the big-headed crowd ; No auto-pause when removed ; Lightning connector, no USB-C

The new Beats Solo Pro headphones stand out as the company’s first on-ear headphones with noise cancellation. They look good, sound good, and have great battery life, but some people might find them uncomfortable.

Beats Solo Pro

The Beats Solo Pro headphones delivers quality noise cancellation with a bass-forward, but relatively balanced, sound signature.

Powerful audio performance with boosted bass and sculpted highs. Solid noise cancellation blocks out low-frequency rumble. Voice control option for iOS devices.

Expensive. No track navigation buttons. Noise cancellation adds slight hiss. No ANC or EQ adjustments.

From an audio perspective, the Beats Solo Pro headphones handle bass well without going overboard. The noise cancellation can't quite compete with Bose's two heavy hitters, the $350 QuietComfort 35 II and the $400 Noise Cancelling Headphones 700,...

Beats Solo Pro review: Too close for comfort

By making every other part of the package feel exceptional enough, the familiar problems that plague the Solo Pro become the sort of inconveniences that you're willing to live with rather than outright deal breakers.

Surprisingly good sound quality ; Great material design ; Fast pairing

Can often be uncomfortable ; Not properly sweat resistant ; Expensive
