Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT review

Impressive headphones now with added Bluetooth

A good listen ; Long battery life ; Comfortable

A touch bass-heavy ; No active noise-cancelling ; Make your ears warm

Easy-to-get-on-with headphones for the commute or listening out and about, with a friendly, approachable sound

Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT

As wireless headphones become an increasingly important product category, it isn't surprising to see Audio-Technica bolster its Bluetooth range by developing an existing model to incorporate wireless technology. The M50x has been around for several...

Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT review

Bluetooth headphones with sound that speaks louder than their understated appearance

Nice simple design

No noise cancellation

An undemonstrative exterior concealing really enthusiastic sound – these Audio-Technicas are not to be taken at face value

Audio Technica's wireless monitor headphones look kinda ugly, sound kinda great

The Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT offers consistently high sound quality for both wireless and wired use, making them great for music fans looking to trade up from entry-level models.

The Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT offers great sound quality both with and without wires. They have an open sound with enough bass to satisfy most users. The Bluetooth controls are well integrated and the inclusion of a separate cable with an integrated...

Unlike many headphones at this price, there's no noise cancelling. The sound can be a little too forward in noisy environments, resulting in less natural sound. The power button is in an awkward spot.

The Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT offers consistently high sound quality for both wireless and wired use, making them great for serious music fans.

Audio-Technica M50xBT review: better beats

For those who prioritize sound quality over looks

Crisp and punchy sound ; Collapsible and hardy design ; Excellent wireless range and stability ; Good battery life

Questionable comfort ; Touch activation for voice assistant is finicky and slow ; Lack of noise canceling ; Lack of USB-C charging

But in the broader wireless market that includes Sony and Bose’s excellent NC headphones; Bang & Olufsen and Bowers & Wilkins’ strikingly pretty cans; and the plethora of alternatives from the likes of Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, Audeze, and even Grado...

Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT review: Great sounding Bluetooth headphones with long battery life

While we haven't reviewed the wired version, our ATH-M50xBT review looks at Audio-Technica's wireless version of their professional studio headphones.

Comfortable design ; Decent build quality ; Fantastic sound, wireless or wired ; Easy to use controls ; Reasonably priced

Pretty standard design ; No tactile feedback when pressing the left earcup for voice assistant ; About 7 hours to recharge ; Basic software, can really do without

Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT review: Fill the ears, fill the soul

Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT is the Bluetooth version of the hugely popular, but wired, ATH-m50x. The Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT is a large over the ear headphone that looks like it means business.
