TomTom GO 920 T review

Slick, slim and festooned with features - but is it really worthy of your hard-earned cash?

Big, widescreen display ; excellent directions ; MapShare ; text-to-speech

Penny-pinching on accessories ; subscription charges ; poor Points Of Interest ; too many frivolous add-ons

The TomTom Go 920 T is pretty much state of the art. It packs in some genuinely innovative features, but nothing here feels like a must-have upgrade for existing satnav owners

TomTom Go920

The GO 920 is TomToms premium device of the moment, and as such comes with every feature imaginable. The device features a 4.3\

It boasts Enhanced Positioning Technology, voice address input and Map Share technologies.

It lacks a video player, can only be charged via USB and is very pricey.

TomTom 920T

With an interface that hasn't been bettered and a wealth of genuinely useful features TomTom is still setting the pace for sat nav.

Design and interface / voice commands / downloadable traffic and camera services

Pricey / slightly bigger than some

Appearance wise the 920T is smart and it attaches and detaches easily from its mount, but its slightly bulbous shape makes it a touch less portable than the likes of the Garmin nuvi 770. The supplied remote is nice to use and lets a passenger take control

TomTom goes premium with the 920T

TOMTOM announced the GO 920T Satellite Navigation device at Germany's IFA in September. It finally made its way to the stores in the last ticking seconds of 2007 and more recently into our grubby little hands for a review

Bluetooth remote control, World Wide map coverage, EPT

No latest map updates after 30 days

It's pitched as the successor to the GO 910 model unveiled way back at CeBit 2006. You may remember this hitting mass press attention when some "isolated numbers" were shipped with a virus later that year ? perhaps not the best feature for a product...

TomTom Go920T Review

The latest TomTom Go920T has arrived, which essentially replaces the previous 910 as the flag ship device. Gone is the internal hard drive which has been exchanged for 4GB of ...

The Go920T is a SatNav packed to the hilt with loads of features/ utilities to aid with Navigation. For sure its TMC receiver needs proper placement to get the best from it, but it does pick up local traffic problems. The text-to-speech was extremely...

TomTom Go 920

When we reviewed the TomTom GO 720 back in September, the bigger and better GO 920 had been announced but wasn't yet available. Now that it's finally arrived, and after taking it for plenty of spins around the block, I can say it's a much better value...

Includes maps of Europe. Quick and responsive menus. Text-to-speech conversion. Multisegment routing. Map Share provides community-based map and POI updates

TomTom PLUS weather and traffic services don't work with Sprint or Verizon handsets. Speech recognition limited to address input

The TomTom GO 920 is a much better value than the company's previous model, the highly rated GO 720particularly if you plan on traveling to Europe. If you have a supported phone with a data plan on AT&T or T-Mobile, it's even better.

TomTom GO 920T Review

TomTom's GO 920T costs about the same as the newer GO 930, but lacks the 930's IQ Routes and Advanced Lane Guidance. However, unlike the 930, the 920T includes an RDS-TMC traffic receiver, giving you everything you need to receive live traffic...

Solid Performer. Voice Input Still Needs Work. A Better Bargain Than The GO 930.

Max Tech: The TomTom GO 920

Fine finish and design., Remote control., Robust features and functionality., Excellent alternate route utility.

Menu system complex., Difficult to install batteries in remote.

If you're the type who's got to have the latest technology, consider the TomTom GO 920. The 920 and its companion model, the 920T (includes a traffic information receiver) sit atop TomTom's in-car GPS line. The 920 packs just about every possible...
