PHAROS PTL535P 3.5" PDA Pocket PC with GPS, WiFi and Windows Mobile Live Search

There are devices for everyday users and there are some for occasional users. Don't rely on it if you have to travel often, it worked for me when I went on a short trip.

GPS with Windows Mobile and wifi (see cons) Did not want to carry a laptop on my recent trip and it work out okay, I was able to check email and browse the web.

The GPS works intermittenly. It takes too long to get the signal. The charging connector was from the stone age. If I had know, I would not have purchase it.

Away outdated design

I Can't believe Pharos engineers are still designing this kind of pda, totally not think about the rough use and frequently put on and take down operation happen in comsumer's car. Remember, if you break your fragile connector, your pda is toasted....

relatively cheaper than other PDA with gps.

Pharos hardware designers must have been living in a cave. I can't believe they are still use the first generation connector for this PDA to sync or charge. I had a Mio168 gps pda for 4 years, it is the world first pda with gps built in so that you can...

My Experience

I'm not pleased with this unit at all. I've run it side by side with much cheaper GPD systems and the cheaper systems have outperformed the Pharos in many different ways. Wish I would have spent my money differently.

Unit runs Windows Mobile and Mobile Office.

GPS Software (Ostia) has many flaws. It locks up frequently requiring removal of the battery from the unit to restart. Ostia often abnormally terminates also forcing restart. During long trips the GPS software will shut down and lock up the unit....

problems with GPS

Needs clear instructions on working with the GPS and to be made more user friendly.

The windows and normal PDA features are good. Can be used without antenna

the GPS will shut down as you travel after only about 5 minuets then must be restarted and set up, will not stay on through out the trip. Have to reset points of reference every day or two normally with the hook up with computer. Dissatisfied with the...
