In-car satellite navigation is getting cheaper thanks to fierce competition, but does the C520t do enough to convince Jon?

The 520t might just show why TomTom, Navman and Garmin won't hog all the market share for ever

Without a doubt the best GPS unit Mio has ever released, the C520's delightful widescreen display, split-screen technology and text-to-speech navigation makes this one of the best units we've reviewed.

Great 4.3in widescreen with split-screen technology, text-to-speech, Bluetooth, excellent maps, design, safety camera warnings

Some confusing menus, battery life

Mio C520 Navigation Receiver review

Mio C520 Navigation Receiver

The Mio C520 GPS device offers a thin and sleek design with a spacious touch screen. The system also has text-to-speech functionality, integrated Bluetooth, and multimedia capabilities.

The C520 was slightly off the mark when tracking our location, and route recalculations weren't always efficient. In addition, the Bluetooth and multimedia features are slightly limited in functionality.

The sleek Mio C520 is a good-value GPS device, packing in advanced navigation features, a large screen, and other extras for an affordable price. However, you can get a better user experience and smoother performance from competing systems.

Mio DigiWalker C520

This feature-packed widescreen GPS with multimedia players threatens the Garmin nüvi's supremacy.

Large 4.3-inch screen. Sensitive 20-channel SiRFstar III receiver. Deep, searchable POI database with predefined national retailers. Includes multisegment routing and pedestrian profiles.

Bluetooth phone interface connected, but didn't work with our test phone.

Mio DigiWalker C520

Price. Good looks. 4.3-inch LCD is beautiful to behold. Windscreen mount now much easier to use. Bluetooth hands-free. Text-to-speech can handle Aussie names.

Slow route calculation. Occasional mid-word pauses in speech. Illegal u-turn bug still present.

Bluetooth, text-to-speech, massive screen and good looks make the C520 a good GPS. Its great price transforms it into a great GPS.
