Less can be more, so does Mio's C220 sat-nav system do exactly what the proverbial tin says?

Navigation Made Easy : Mio C220 DigiWalker GPS SatNav

Putting away my paper-based maps, it was time to check out another SatNav device.

As part of its range of DigiWalker SatNav devices, Mio has released its C220 model. Although at the more budget end of its product line up, the C220 packs an impressive amount of functionality into a unit that measures 108 x 81 x 24mm (H x W x D) and...

The C220 is a solid choice if you're after an entry-level GPS unit. Excellent maps, speedy performance and a competitive price may be enough to overlook the sometimes confusing interface.

Excellent maps, speedy GPS performance, compact design, price, safety camera warnings

Confusing menu system, some icons lack a text description, battery life

Mio DigiWalker C220

Mio's DigiWalker C220 boasts the accuracy of pricier models plus undeniable usability for a lot less money.

Excellent value. Full-featured GPS at entry-level price. Sensitive GPS receiver. Supports multisegment routing. Good POI handling. Traffic-camera locator.

No text-to-speech conversion. Speaker not very loud at highway speeds.

Mio C220 review: Mio C220

The Mio C220 offers a compact, no-fuss design and an accurate GPS. The system is easy to use and all maps come preloaded on an included SD card. The C220 is also very affordable.

The C220's screen is barely readable in sunlight, and we wish there was an easier way to adjust the volume.

Though the Mio C220 offers ease of use, accurate directions, and an affordable price tag, its poor screen makes this in-car GPS device almost unusable.

SlashGear Review – Mio DigiWalker C220

I tend to do a bit of driving now and then, and while I'm actually quite good at getting myself to somewhere that I've been before, I'm not always the best at getting there the first time. I've never owned a GPS unit, but after I had the opportunity to...

If you remember, the H610 took a little while to lock in a signal. I never experienced this issue with the C220, in fact I usually had a signal in a little over a minute. My only complaint would be the lack of a wall charger. If you need to recharge...

If you're looking for a no-nonsense GPS unit that does navigation very well, you should take a look at the Mio C220 – it delivers an incredible value for that price level (expect to find it at street prices of If you79 – If you99).

Mio DigiWalker C220

A highly customisable entry-level GPS which focuses on its core task of navigation but requires a bit of acclimatisation to get the best out of.

Predictive text keyboard ; Speed and red light cameras displayed on map by default ; Highly customisable interface

that required a fair degree of familiarisation ; Struggled with tall buildings in the CBD ; Insisted we perform illegal u-turns to get back onto preferred route

Generally, the C220 safely navigated us from A to B, although the usual complaints about circuitous routes and an over reliance on major or clogged roads remained. The C220 utilises the latest R14 maps from Sensis and its route calculation times were...
