Magellan RoadMate 800 review: Magellan RoadMate 800

Picking up where the RoadMate 760 left off, the Magellan RoadMate 800 is stocked with many of the same great navigation features of its predecessor and includes a few entertainment extras to boot. You get an integrated MP3 player and a picture viewer;...

The Magellan RoadMate 800 comes with maps preloaded on its hard drive and includes entertainment features. It also has solid performance.

Unfortunately, the Magellan RoadMate 800 doesn't feature text-to-speech functionality or an FM modulator.

Armed with a rechargeable internal battery and entertainment features, the Magellan RoadMate 800 is an accurate nav system you can use in the car or on foot, but it lacks some of the advanced features of its competitors.

Rather expensive GPS device

RoadMate 800 is has been one great realization for me it portable and yet has a gigantic 20GB built in hard disk that helps maintain a huge database. The touch screen feature is elegant and it has a very clear display. It comes with a wide variety of...

Poorly designed device, horrible tech support

We have purchased two Magellan Roadmate devices. The first (a 760) was purchased based upon reviews found here and because I had used the Hertz model that was the basis for the Magellan devices. First device works properly although it took over 3 WEEKS...

Good maps, clear directions, easy to understand

Slow startup, very poor design of the power connector, extremely horrible tech support

Common perception is average

I don't own one but did some research on it and can tell you that my feelings are mixed. Some people love it some people don't. The only things attracts me to this model is its design and GPS Audio and Video storage.

SAY GOODBYE TO PAPER MAPS

The first time I ever tried any type of GPS device was while I was vacationing in Germany. Not only were the roads confusing but the way the most European countries direct you by road signs is by routing you toward a city instead of what direction you...
