Garmin GPSmap 60CSx

An overpriced upgrade

Colour screen, expandable memory, barometric altimeter, Highway mode is useful

Expensive, slow acquisition times, somewhat confusing button placement

The GPSmap 60CSx has all the hallmarks of a decent handheld GPS device. However, it still offers too little at too high a price.

Garmin International is part of a company that makes navigation equipment for the aviation and marine markets, as well as the consumer market. In fact, their first GPS handhelds supported Coalition forces in the Gulf War. So we think it's fair to say...

No matter where you are, you will never need to ask for directions again.

Do you like GPS navigation devices or do you still use an atlas? Despite being overshadowed by the explosive popularity of aftermarket GPS navigation products in the automotive sector, handheld units such as the the Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx are still...

right gps for the car

The Garmin GPSMAP 60 CSx is the extended Version of the GPSMAP 60 Cx. While the case is same size and format, the CSx shows up with a barometric altimeter and an electronic compass. I use it for several purposes. Traveling statistics, autorouting,...

Expensive, full of features but ultimately diappointing

When this first came out, I had a Garmin GPS12 unit which was ok for basic navigation but wanted something bigger and better. I bought the 60scx to replace the GPS12 as it had features such as the elctronic compass and microcard storage options. Having...

Robust - waterproof case ; packed full of features (electronic compass, altitude tracker and data storage options) ; quick acquisition rate for signal

bit bulky and realtively heavy ; very expensive when I bought mine 2008 ; mapping an expensive option ; screen difficult to see in sunlight

Garmin GPSMAP 60CSX

Excellent for walking and does not loose sat link under trees ro thick cloud, unlike previous Garmin Legend. UK Maps are good and have many footpaths (most official FPs), although lower rated paths may not show. Used in country and towns including...

OS restriction on non printing of maps (not Garmin's fault), but you can print text version of route or track. If in town, you use the 'follow roads' route it may not use the quickest route 'on foot' but may follow 'best car route' but you just need to...
