Asus R700t review

Asus R700t

The Asus R700t portable navigation system features a slim design and has an integrated traffic receiver. You also get a complimentary subscription to the traffic services, integrated Bluetooth, and 3D building renderings.

The R700t doesn't include text-to-speech functionality, route recalculations weren't always efficient, and general performance can be slow at times.

For the company's first stab at the GPS market, the Asus R700t is an impressive debut, offering some great navigation features. However, we'd like to see the addition of text-to-speech functionality and smoother performance before completely committing...

Asus R700t GPS

Asus has decided to take the plunge into the GPS market with the introduction of the R700t GPS. It is the first GPS from Asus, and while not perfect, the R700t is a worthy unit, especially when you consider that Asus is typically known for just making...

The design of the Asus R700t is simple and in line with other GPS devices on the market. Its silver and black borders are attractive and complement your dashboard without being too much of an eyesore. The R700t is one of the slimmest GPS units on the...

Good unit, user interface non-intuitive

Only other GPS experience I have is with an in-dash unit on Chrysler mini-van...which I like.

My wife and I both like it. It works well, and does all that we need it to do. Unit is not too bulky. All needed cables, etc. come with unit

Appears to take about a minute to lock on to GPS ; The user interface took a little getting used to, but it does everything I want it to

Expensive Paperweight

NewEgg has done its part well in handling the return and sending of a second unit out to me in good time. It's a shame, though, that ASUS is failing with this product. I gave this product a chance since I've been happy with ASUS motherboards. This just...

It navigates, however I don't feel it is as user-friendly as other comparable units.

It has very limited POI functionality in some areas. ASUS has been giving me a run-around on this issue, and is failing to address it. They've repeatedly told me that an update will be available soon, but can't provide an ETA. I've been waiting for...

Traffic update is cool

Overall great GPS product. Looks nice and it's not that "common" so your friends will give you the eye like...Asus GPS? every time they ride my car...kind of cool.

Got this unit as a gift and literally worked out of box. Was able to get the traffic update working here in LA and San Diego area, pretty cool feature. Also linked with my cell phone on the first attempt.

Battery life is not as long as I have expected, but it has AC adapter and in fact this GPS is a lot slimmer than most of 4.3"" I have seen.

Could be better

You are better off with the older HP IPAQ 5910, very similiar, built in wifi, bluetooth, GPS, 128 megs user space, 2 gigs onboard, and a microsd slot which supports up to 2 gigs per card, only downfall of the iPAQ is that it only has a 2.5 inch screen

Large screen, 1 gig of space, GPS

Locked down OS, stripped, limited abilities. Asus had the chance to make an ULTRA sweet PDA/GPS device here, but they decided to be cheap and use ce 5.0 instead of full WM6. So you basically have to hack up the device to make it usefull as anything but...
