Is the Sony Reader Touch Edition the best eBook reader yet? Niall finds out.
The PRS-600 doesn't quite reach eBook reader perfection, mainly because the screen is more reflective than we would have liked, but we do think it comes awfully close. The touchscreen control and better laid out menus make it much easier and faster to...

The Sony PRC-600 Reader Touch Edition replaces the buttons of the older 505 model with a touchscreen interface.
All this puts the Sony PRC-600 Touch Edition in a somewhat uncomfortable position. In terms of interface technology and approach Sony has hit the nail bang on the head. It's comfortable to use, supports all the formats you'd like, and the process of...

Apple's iPad has dominated the press this year, with incredible sales figures verifying that there is a huge market for easy to use, portable devices. I will hold my hand up and say I use an iPad regularly, from reading the Times newspaper every...

The Sony PRS-600 has an excellent feature base, but suffers by virtue of its glossy display.
Great build quality; fantastic touch-screen interface; built-in dictionary; note-taking capabilities; wide range of formats supported
Glossy screen makes it almost unusable; more expensive than rivals
But there’s a rather big catch. The Reader Touch Edition has a reflective screen, and you can see your own face beaming back at you. The reflective screen adds absolutely nothing, but takes away just about everything.

A welcome if rather expensive update of the original.
The new Reader carries across all the strengths of the original but combines them with a touchscreen UI that makes navigation much easier. It also brings some handy new functionality to the party, including an excellent built-in dictionary, and the...

Sony continues to be a class act in the digital book realm, and since it now supports ePub, it should rival Amazon in the breadth of available content. At $300 (£200), it's pricier than many other ebook readers, but it's also one of the best designed...

The Sony Reader Touch Edition (PRS-600) is Sony's new flagship e-book reader
Full-featured reader with a good music player, intuitive user interface
A tad heavy and pricey, requires a PC to add content
Unless having to connect to a PC to acquire content is a major concern for you, the Sony Reader Touch Edition is well worth considering.

The Reader Touch Edition is a stylish device with a touch interface that makes navigation a snap, but a difficult-to-read screen sinks this Sony e-book reader.
Sleek design. Touch-screen interface. Compatible with the ePub format, which Amazon's Kindles don't support.
Dull screen. Books must be sideloaded via computer. AC adapter is an optional $30 accessory.

Sony Reader Touch Edition PRS-600
The PRS-600 is sleeker than the Kindle; touch screen is more responsive than last year's Sony Reader; interface offers better ergonomics and is mostly easy to use; with the addition of an optional memory card (SD or Memory Stick Pro), it's capable of...
Screen is still glare-prone; screen contrast (how dark the letters are) isn't as good as what you'll find on competing models; lack of wireless access means all files must be dragged and dropped from a PC; battery is sealed into unit; notation and...
While it's an improvement to the company's previous touch-screen model, Sony's Reader Touch Edition PRS-600 is saddled with a screen that's short on contrast and prone to glare--and it lacks the wireless convenience of Amazon's identically priced Kindle.

Thinner, smaller and lighter than most magazines, the Reader Touch Edition (Sony PRS-600) lets you access up to 350 (or more with memory expansion card slots) of your favorite books from anywhere. The intuitive 6-inch touchscreen display makes...
