The Sony Reader PRS 300 Pocket Edition is one of the most affordable e-book readers around. And there is plenty to like about it.
dfhsWith direct hook-up to a lending library and links to extra reading materials, Sony has addressed criticisms of its limited e-book options. The Sony Reader PRS 300 Pocket Edition's build is solid, the battery life is long and the design is up to...

The Sony Reader PRS-300 Pocket Edition (what a mouthful!) is a very basic and compact E Reader tailored for people on a budget due to its lack of extra features that most of its competition include. The simplicity of it means that it does what it does...

The Sony Reader PRS 300 Pocket Edition is Sony's first e-book reader in the UK that's aimed at mass market adoption. And there is plenty to like about it.

A nice enough device, but stripped of some significant core abilities offered by the Reader Touch Edition.
Sony has missed an opportunity to pitch the Pocket Edition as the iPod Nano to the Touch Edition's iPod Touch. Sure the Pocket is a fine bit of kit as far as it goes – it's well made, light, compact and provides a fine reading experience – but at £180...

The compact and affordable Digital Reader Pocket Edition isn't packed with features, but it's still Sony's best e-book reader so far.
Affordable. Compact. Solidly built. Compatible with the ePub format, which Amazon's Kindle doesn't support.
No wireless book downloads. No AC adapter. Sony Book Store doesn't include newspapers, magazines or blogs.

Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-300
With its sharp 5-inch screen, the Sony Reader Pocket Edition is much more compact than the Kindle 2 and fits comfortably in one hand when reading; font size is adjustable; decent battery life; Sony's eBook Library software is now both Windows- and...
No expandable memory; battery is sealed into unit; screen may be too small for some people; limited zoom function with PDF files; cannot display JPEGs or play back MP3 files; not as zippy as the step-up PRS-600; USB charging only works from PCs.
While Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-300 has a basic feature set, its $200 price tag, compact size, and Epub file compatibility make it an appealing e-book reader.

The Sony Reader Pocket Edition delivers mainstream e-book features in a highly portable package at a great price.
Like previous Sony Readers, the Pocket Edition comes in a metal case (most competitors use some sort of plastic), which may help explain its unexpected heft. But the silvery case felt great in my hands—a good thing, since the neoprene case is a slip-in...
