If the Pandigital Novel were priced lower, maybe I'd be forgiving of its numerous faults. For those that need a portable device and who don't have a smartphone, I can see where this might have appeal at first blush. It's a first, positive step into the...

The Pandigital Novel functions as a basic e-book reader for the exceedingly patient, but it's no bargain tablet computer, by any stretch of the imagination.
Attractive home screen UI. Android OS means it doubles as a low-cost tablet computer.
Dim, fuzzy, extremely stubborn touch screen. Sluggish, obtuse user interface. Buggy, despite a recent firmware update.
In Use, Quirks, and Conclusions Using the Novel was an exercise in frustration. My test unit was full of bugs, despite being delayed a month while waiting for a firmware update. Reading books generally worked OK, provided that I remained calm and...

E-reader is easy on the wallet, but expect to make compromises on performance and usability.

Pandigital Novel eReader
E-book reader with color touch screen; built-in Wi-Fi; access to Barnes & Noble eBook store; SD expansion slot for additional memory; Web browser and e-mail capabilities; displays images and some video formats; support for audio and MP3 playback.
Resistive touch-screen is problematic; extremely sluggish performance; interface could be more intuitive; overall user experience could be better.
The feature set of the affordable Pandigital Novel looks good on paper, but this color e-book reader and multimedia device is hobbled by its extremely slow performance and unresponsive touch screen.

This Pandigital Novel is the largest of Pandigital's ereaders and Android tablets. It has a 9-inch screen, whereas the other two color models have 7-inch screens.
Please feel free to post questions and comments below about the 9″ Pandigital Novel, or if you need some help with anything. Make sure to check the review for details about how to install apps.

The Pandigital Novel Personal eReader is Pandigital's second ebook reader, and is their first attempt at an electronic paper ereader. Their other device was released back in June, the Pandigital Novel Tablet, a 7-inch multipurpose ereader with a color...
Compared to other ebook readers on the current market, the Pandigital Novel Personal eReader has a fairly extensive list of features for the price: WiFi, touchscreen, web browser that can download ebooks, audio player, speaker, g-sensor, and some apps...

Walgreens offers the Pandigital Novel 7" Multimedia eReader for $149.99. With shipping at $4.99, it's the lowest total price we could find by $31. Sales tax is added where applicable. It features a Samsung ARM 11 mobile processor, 7" 600x800 color...

Pandigital, a digital photoframe specialist, understands the value of color in displaying images. It's no surprise then that the company is bringing color to eReader screens as it moves from digital photos to digital books. With a name like Pandigital...
The backlit LCD screen has both advantages and disadvantages. On the con side, texts easily gets washed out when hit by sunlight. On the pro side, it allows you to read perfectly in dim darkness or in low light situations. 800 x 600 pixel resolution...
The Novel supports three file types only, limiting the eBooks you can download to PDF, ePub, and HTML files only. Touch screen is resistive, not capacitive, which could mean you need to press extra hard to get the device respond to your commands. The...
The Pandigital Novel will be available from major retailers such as Sears, Staples, and K-Mart for $199. For those who have been waiting for a color eReader that is cheap, can browse the web, and play videos, the Pandigital Novel is due for a limited...

Great price on this tablet! I had to get it for $19.00US. Its only blaring problem is that it is so slow. Like 20+ seconds to pull up a PDF page. Then when you click to the next page it takes another 20+ seconds. If you can put up with that (and trust...

Works well, holds a lot of books, is easy to use, easy to load books onto, and is very portable. Only draw backs are grey scale screen (no colors) and outdated web browser. But since I already have 2 tablets that work just fine online, and since I...
