Ectaco jetBook Color E-ink reader

First Look: The first colour E-ink reader is now available. But is it any good?

With a larger screen and slower operation, the Ectaco jetBook isn't going to lure us away from our Kindles and Sony Readers any time soon, but its use of a colour E-ink screen is fascinating. The mediocre level of colour reproduction won't make it...

The Ectaco jetBook Universal Portable Reading Device Review

With all of the hullabaloo over the Amazon Kindle 2‘s recent release, one might think that there were no other eBook readers on the market; not so! Those who eschew DRM protection and who can do without the convenience of an online content store (I'm...

The Ectaco Jetbook Lite eReader is a decent LCD device at a low price with support for a wide variety of formats. Features include: editing features such as the ability to search in-book and bookmark. Available in burgundy, graphite, gray, and white....

Ectaco Jetbook Mini

The Jetbook Mini is very light; it doesn’t strain your wrist even when you use it with one hand. Support for multi-language interface, including German, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, English, and German, allows non-English users to read books...

The 5-inch screen limits the number of lines you see per page. PDF is not natively supported; files have to be converted first using Calibre. But even if it does, we doubt if the small screen can display PDF files well. The device gives you 90 hours or...

The Ectaco Jetbook Mini came without much fanfare. It even seems that its existence has been kept under wraps for a while. Ectaco’s decision to release YouTube decision proves to be right. The device is currently out of stock on the Ectaco website. If...

Ectaco Jetbook Lite

The Jetbook Lite, the second device to come from the Ectaco e-reader series, is not necessarily lighter in weight than the first generation Jetbook, but it certainly is to the pocket. Aimed to be the most affordable of e-readers, the Ectaco Jetbook...

With the switch to AA batteries, one would think Ectaco is sacrificing portability for price. Yet at 9 ounces, it is still light enough to be carried around in one's hand or in one's pocket. Where the battery chamber is, users will notice a bulge....

The Jetbook Lite's built-in flash memory, at 100 MB, is meager, although storage capacity can be expanded via an external storage. Font type options are also limited; users can choose between two font types only ; The New Kindle 3. From Only $139....

Because it is still missing a wireless capability, users looking forward to download the latest books directly from their device have to look somewhere else. But those who want to study a new language, learn something about different places in the...

Ectaco Jetbook Reader

Because of its small size, the Ectaco Jetbook has a longer battery life compared to many other e-book readers, with a single charge lasting for up to 11,500 page turns, much more than the 7,500 of its Sony competitor. This little device also boots up...

The screen size is on the Jetbook is 5 inches, not much smaller than the dedicated eReader rivals, the Sony and Kindle. The small size does compromise the readability on one hand, but makes up for it with its portability on the other. The contrast and...

Ectaco is known for electronic translators and dictionaries and other travel reference gadgets, now they’ve rolled their most useful tools, bundled it with an eReader and put it a nice little four by six inch package. With built-in travel guides,...

Great Product

Opens many formats, e-books easily added to SD card and found by device. AA batteries instead of internal, no recharge required. Just pop in some fresh AAs

No back light. Not really a big deal but for people who read in very low light or want to read in the dark you will need a book light or some other light source

DOA

Sadly disappointed, as I bought this as a birthday present for my wife. Hopefully this was a bad apple, we'll see......

Advertised features seem great for the money. Fast shipping as always from Newegg

Unit powered up but froze on boot up screen. Would not respond to reset, new batteries, or other troubleshooting efforts. Computer did not recognize the reader in this state, so updating firmware was out of the question. Physically, the buttons look...

Great for languages!

An excellent lower-tier e-reader designed by a company with a long history of manufacturing digital dictionaries. You get what you pay for, but if what you're looking for is an ultra-functional reader with multi-language support, this is probably your...

Best reader for the price! The most important feature to me is multi-language support: I read English, Russian, and Farsi. The JetBook Lite displays all of those perfectly, as well as Pashto and many other languages. It supports many formats. The...

one more pro: built in dictionaries ; Cons ; None of these are exactly cons per se, but here goes ; There is no back light (which is better for your eyes, plus you can get a clip-on book light) ; It can't play back audio (there are many other devices...
