This is a great e-reader

I purchased this for my eleven year old to use with our homeschooling. She can now carry a library's worth of classic literature easily. This is especially helpful in light of the libraries clearing their shelves of the classics. It was easy to learn...

I really like the way that the books can be organized into folders ; Easy to use free texts ; The font size possiblities are fabulous ; Color is great for distinguishing each person's ereader

I haven't really found any - this device is very well suited to the intended purpose

My daughters love these!

The ereaders have been a great purchase - overall, I am glad that I invested in these for the children to use as educational tools. I have been showing other homeschool moms the readers and discussing how I use them for additional reading.

This sounds silly - but I liked the fact that I can order different colors. These were purchased for my children (ages 11 and 12) to use with their schoolwork. I can find thousands of free books via google books and gutenberg. The e-reader is easy to...

It takes a bit to get used to how to maneuver through the controls (I have been using a nook myself, which seems more intuitive). This is easily resolved by just spending time fooling with the unit and exploring the capabilities. It didn't come in...

An outstanding reader

Do not expect all of your books to be displayed the same as they are printed. Normal fiction is perfectly fine - I've selected higher size in low light (airplane) and was able to read no problems with my eyes not tired at all! However, textbooks,...

excellent quality of the image, readable, contrast and clear ; supports *many* formats ; simple and easy UI ; very ergonomic, you can scroll pages from left, bottom or right sides easily ; comes with excellent case, 2GB SD card with 300 books, cables,...

something which is common for *ALL* readers (I've checked SONY personally, too): pretty clumsy PDF renderer. If you have a PDF book with diagrams and graphics, the default size of the screen (5") makes it almost impossible to read. On a 6" reader it's...

Great Reader

If you're on the fence about ebook readers, hop off and get one of these. Well worth it.

Great little reader. Has been able to read anything I've thrown at it. Multiple font zoom levels make reading it easy on the eyes. I've had it a month, charged it when I got it and haven't had to plug it in since. The SD card slot means I can load tons...

Some pdf files have a bit of trouble. One graphics heavy book could not be zoomed on. Since it wasn't exactly a legitimate copy anyway, I'm not gonna complain

Very Cool!

It would just be better overall if in a future firmware update the darkness of the text is fixed, as it would be easier on the eyes. It doesn't bother me too much usually, though when I use the Sony Pocket Reader...the darker text is so much...

Easy to flash ; With current firmware, 9 levels of zoom ; Memory expandable (PDF's can get big, same with music, and moving files to an SD is much quicker and better than internal with this device) ; Came with 2GB SD Card (unexpected!), basic case,...

Text seems slightly lighter ("grayed") in comparison to darker text on the Sony Pocket (only other reader I have also test-driven) ; Trying to transfer to internal memory was a pain. I do not save to the internal memory at all as a result. All from SD...

won me over to e-readers

I've been leery of e-readers for years, being library technical staff. I love books. I own thousands. But, I now have a 4 hour daily commute, give or take, and have gotten tired of running out of reading or having to carry 2 hardcovers. Then the Nook...

Light ; Easy to hold, three ways to turn pages so you can easily change your grip ; Easy on eyes ; Piece of cake to flash, upgrades come out about monthly ; Great tech support-employees hang out on major e-reader forums and answer questions ; Comes...

Adobe hates Linux, so if you want to read any DRM e-books, you have to find a software solution prior to loading them in your Pocket Pro ; Interface takes a few minutes to get used to ; No WiFi

peeling paint

purchased it Oct 28th. I'd wait until the paint issues are resolved.

it's an excellent e-book reader, and it does all that is promised

the paint is peeling off of mine

A little addition

Although it worked very well out of the box, Astak has already updated their firmware, making this little thing even better (zoom levels, features, etc). I AM impressed!

This is an addition to the review I've left for this device in the 6" product page ; Astak's customer service impressed me. They had a problem with colored device coatings. Once they fixed it, they've contacted me asking if I'd like to replace it (for...

Best Yet

Hands down the best reader out at this time. I have well over 400 books on my SD card and thats not even close to the capacity of the device.

Size - Very comfortable in the hand ; Feel - A soft rubber coating awesome ; Flexible formats - can't really find a format it doesn't display well ; Service - I already have the 6" and the Astak people are great to work with
