Kindle Paperwhite (2015)

Amazon's latest update to its mid-range e-reader, the Paperwhite, doesn't make any dramatic changes to the overall look. But, the one thing that has been improved has made this an even more worthy purchase.

Great screen ; Impressive battery ; Responsive display

Locked into Amazon ; No audio functions

The best all-round e-reader on the market, with an awesome screen and a price that won’t break the bank.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2015) review

All about that screen

Super-sharp screen ; Improved typography ; Fairly affordable

Nothing that new ; Bland design ; Still missing some features

It's a conservative upgrade but the new screen makes this the best Kindle Paperwhite yet, with a brilliant balance of price and features.

Kindle Paperwhite (2021) review: Still the best e-reader

Amazon's all-new Kindle ups the display size and gives things a boost. Is this the Kindle to buy?

Larger display than previous ; Great illumination ; USB-C connection ; Battery life lasts for weeks

Page-turning isn't great for left-handers ; Store and interface are a little slow ; No access to services like Overdrive

Perhaps the easiest, lowest-maintenance e-reader out there.

Amazon Kindle review 7th generation 2015

We test out the cheapest Kindle

The Kindle remains a great eReader, but with the launch of Amazon's £49 Fire tablet, it's hard to see £59.99 as a bargain price. If you can live with reading on an LCD screen - which effectively means indoors - then the Fire is a great deal. But if...

Kindle Paperwhite (2015) review

A tech injection brings the Paperwhite bang up to date

Text is sharper than in an actual book ; A warmer, more comfortable yellow tint to the light ; Usual Kindle qualities, from the store to the general usability

For non-touchscreen controls you have to spend more and get the Voyage

There’s no drama to the 2015 Paperwhite update – the design is exactly the same, but a screen tweak sees it keep the ereader crown

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2015) review

Kindle Paperwhite eReader is thin and light and has a brilliant display. But we would lose some of that for better battery life

The Kindle Paperwhite is, by any stretch of the imagination, an excellent eReader. Brilliant display, superb design and build, and access to an unsurpassed library of eBooks. Our only minor quibble is about battery life, and it isn't cheap. But we are...

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2015) Review: In Depth

New Amazon Kindle Paperwhite review: We get stuck into our favourite ebooks on Amazon's refreshed Kindle Paperwhite ereader, revamped for 2015 with a sexy new...

Sharp, bright screen ; Light and compact ; Great online store

Battery life impacted ; Few reasons to upgrade

Amazon’s new Paperwhite has been updated with a gloriously sharp screen, but the trade-off is reduced battery life compared with last year’s model. It’s still a great ereader and the crisp visuals make it ideal for comic book fans, but original owners...

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite review

It's the biggest upgrade to ebook readers since the first Amazon Kindle – but does the Kindle Paperwhite burn bright?

What screen glare? ; Lighter than a paperback

No MP3 or audiobook playback ; Prone to the odd crash

The best screen, the best ebook store and an impressive light, the Kindle is still on top

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

The Kindle Paperwhite marries good design, fair price and much-needed backlight to make it the best Kindle for most people. But we would lose some of that for better battery life.
