Stunning HD pictures and a massive 1TB of storage, but limited functionality

Stunning HD picture ; clear set-up menus ; massive 1TB of storage

Disappointing BBC iPlayer picture ; EPG’s look and standard-def pics could be better

Do you want a digital TV recorder that bundles all manner of extra gadgetry onboard, such as Blu-ray player, Smart IPTV functionality and media streaming? Or do you want a simple PVR with a big enough hard drive to let you Series Link without fear?

Huge HDD; quiet operation; archiving to external HDD; music and photo jukebox functionality

No smart portal or video playback on USB; no on-box display

Reasonably compact. Fairly intuitive controls and remote key layout.

Takes an unacceptably long time to respond from the time of switching it out of standby. This is VERY frustrating. Occasionally freezes altogether on switch-on, necessitating the need to unplug the unit for a brief period, then wait even longer while...

integrated with other sony AV products

Firmware 'broke' and had to be sent back for repair. Shows signs of 'hanging up' when in use. I expect it'll break down again within the year.
