Samsung DVD-HD850

The Samsung DVD-850 will go down as one of the bargains of the year -- a next-generation DVD player that precedes models from every other mainstream brand.

SOLID PICTURE, GREAT AUDIO BUT IS UPSCALING A GIMMICK?

As a 576p DVD Player via HDMI it's very good indeed and for the price you can't go wrong. Don't get excited about Upscaling though.

Great Picture, Audio and I love the styling and solid build quality of the unit ; Easily made mult-regional

FILMS IN 1080I ON MY SONY 40INCH HD READY ARE SUPERB

For 72 this has to be a bargain, I am very pleased with the results, adding a new dimension to my DVD collection and that is with the standard HDMI cable. Very pleased

Switching to 1080i and watching films results in a richness of picture not available at 576p. Colours remain natural.

Build quality not up to much, but at the price that is being picky.
