Multiregion and 'net functions make us covet this BD baby
Performance ; Viera Cast functions ; Multiregion capabilities
No multichannel analogue
A solid Blu-ray player with lots of good features and some pretty darn fine pictures to boot

A solid player, but not a significant enough improvement over last year's model and overtaken now by newer rivals
Simple to use and all the key specifications ; good attention to detail, natural colours, crisp edges ; plenty of sonic excitement
Rivals have stepped up performance, particularly in terms of sound
Top-notch new rivals doth not a bad BD player make, but this Panasonic is no longer our budget weapon of choice

We put Panasonic's new Blu-ray spinner through its paces to see if it can fill the huge high-def shoes of its predecessor
A classy entry-level Blu-ray spinner with class-leading picture quality

Panasonic's Blu-Ray players are generally from the top drawer and when their DMP-BD60 came out earlier in the year, it was no exception. Receiving sterling reviews from industry press certainly pricked our ears up, but the initial price was a little...
When you bear in mind that a Blu-Ray player with this much performance quality, and packed with as many features as the BD60 would not long ago have cost upwards of £500, it might make you consider that it’s time to jump on the Blu-Ray bandwagon. At...

The DMP-BD60 is Panasonic's new entry-level Blu-ray Disc player. Like last year's DMP-BD35, the machine is small, fairly fast, and features full Blu-ray Profile 2.0 support (meaning that it supports features like BD Live internet connectivity and...

Good points: Outstanding picture quality both for Blu-ray and upscaling DVD to near high-definition quality. Eject button on remote. Drawbacks: Menu operation makes annoying plinky-plonky noise. Loading times not outstanding.

Take a solid 2008 Blu-ray player, add VIERA Cast, and we have a solid 2009 Blu-ray player

The Panasonic DMP-BD60K might cost a bit more than the other top-tier Blu-ray disc players on the market, but in our opinion it's worth it.
Excellent image quality, sleek and attractive design, lots of useful inbuilt features
Unhelpful on-screen displays
On all counts, the Panasonic DMP-BD60 is a well-made Blu-ray player, and it ranks among the best Blu-ray players you can buy today. Highly recommended.

Panasonic's DMP-BD60 hits the scene as the successor to the well-received DMP-BD35, packing Viera Cast features on top of BD-Live capability in a slim (& m...

The Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray player looks and works a lot like its predecessor, but comes with a few fun online upgrades.
1080p24 DVD upconversion. Google-based online multimedia features. Quick-start feature improves start-up time. Very energy efficient.
1080p24 DVD upconversion feature needs to be manually activated. Optional memory required for BD-Live support. Quick-start feature increases standby power consumption.
