Solid build and design, Thorough and thoughtful feature set, Good picture, Weighty sound, Nice control app

Music lacks rhythm and integration, Picture quality isn’t massively better than the best budget machines

Oppo BDP-103 Darbee Edition Blu-ray player

 

First-class Blu-ray and DVD picture quality. Noticeable picture enhancements with "Darbee" processing. Excellent control over disc playback. Excellent network media performance.

Quite expensive.

The Oppo BDP-103 Darbee Edition is about as good as it gets with disc playback and supports this with unusual "Darbee" picture enhancements and strong network media support.

In fact, the front panel is almost entirely identical save for more robust-looking buttons and slight modifications to the LCD display. There are also inputs for MHL and USB on the front panel.

This is the very first review of an Oppo product, a company that is based out of Silicon Valley. We have been hearing only good things about it from various sources and if that doesn't raise expectations, we don't know what will.

Using the included wireless-N adapter or the Ethernet port, you can hook up to the internet and access features like VUDU HD movie streaming, CinemaNow, Pandora internet radio and a whole lot more. Unfortunately, most of these movie sites aren’t open...
