LG RH399D

 

LG's DVD recorder offers plenty of recording space and an in-built digital tuner, but the lack of HD capability really hurts.

Integrated Digital Tuner ; 320GB of storage capacity ; DivX playback ; HDMI connectivity

Tuner is SD only ; Recording options aren't clearly explained ; Some visual fidelity problems ; Not region free

If the RH399D were a touch cheaper, it would be a passable option for the cash-strapped, but for AU$649, we'd expect a little more — certainly HD playback, and perhaps more transparency in the recording set-up — to compete with simpler and/or more...

What a DUD !!! My 399D started simply getting jammed at Hello and doing nothing but the store simply suggested I yurn it off at the power and back on to reset it. This worked for long enough to get it past my 12 months Warranty. Being $600 + I didn't...

OK, same review as before. Sorry for the duplicate post. Anyway, just wanted to correct one thing: the LG does in fact archive from the HDD to DVD. LG calls this process "dubbing". Anyway, I will re-rate this product as a "6" given my earlier error...
