LG DVS450H review

LG's stylish DVD player is just a teaser for Blu-ray

HD playback ; Stylish looks ; Solid DVD performance

Can't be rack-mounted ; No DTS decoding

A good DVD player that can upscale to 1080p, but unless you desperately want to bolt all your AV equipment to the wall we would recommend looking elsewhere

LG DVS450H

There aren't too many budget DVD players that make a style statement, but this is one of them. The picture quality isn't bad, either

Unusual styling ; excellent remote control ; capable of rich blacks ; decent detail to the picture

Not the cleanest of pictures ; black detail could be better

LG DVS450H

On the back is a circular panel with screw holes for wall mounting, and because it sits slightly away from the wall it creates the illusion that it's floating. The rear also sports a small bank of connections, including an HDMI port and coaxial digital...

Unusual design, DivX HD playback, USB port

Picture noise, price

LG DVS450H 'floating' DVD player

Not as cheap as some DVD players, but the LG makes up for it in looks, features and picture quality.

In the end, this machine isn't just a good DVD player, but quite a nice little media hub too. As such, £130 isn't unreasonable, even in an era of Tesco-sold £20 DVD players. Everything the LG does, it does well, and you can find the function you want...
