A flashy DVD player, for cheap You must be kidding me!

Nope, not kidding. This silvery shiny wonder from JVC is one of the best investments that I've ever made. This DVD player plays everything short of minidiscs, including Video CD's, DVD's, Audio CD's, CD-R, and CD-RWs. I've owned it for a year and a...

Flashy silver color, plays Video CDs, Component outputs, decent remote, great picture.

3-D Phonic is useless, remote needs to get rid of "shift" button.

Don't buy this unit without buying an extended warranty!

After just 14 months of occasional use, the player stopped playing discs. Took it to JVC authorized repair shop to find that the laser pickup already needed to be replaced. Shop technician said that is was simply a part failure and no fault of the...

Ease of use

Very expensive part failure after 14 months.

Want technology in your home for a low price... Read this

Wow! At last I'm in pace with technology at home. I have to admit it: I loved my VCR way too much to even consider having a DVD. I just considered "normal" to rent a video, use a cleaner for the heads, push 'Play', view the movie, and rewinding it to...

What to know about the JVC XV-523GD DVD player

Recently I purchased the JVC XV-523GD DVD player and I have to admit I am mostly pleased. It took me a long time to buy a DVD player because I spent forever researching every player I came across. Finally I decided on the JVC XV-523GD DVD player...

Fairly inexpensive, plays CD-Rs, and you have to admit you like the color

The picture quality is only a little above average

I enjoying using the JVC player.

This is first DVD player I've owned. The picture is great and the extra options are really neat to use. I really like the zoom feature and the ability to play at different speeds.

Picture is great and works wonderfully with my JVC receiver.

At first the symbols that pop up can be confusing when playing the DVD

JVC DVD

This DVD player is a perfect gift for someone who is not too picky about sound quality or picture quality, but still wants a affordable DVD player. JVC is a well known company and I have trusted them for years, and I hope, years to come.

S-Video capabilities, inexpensive, JVC

Poorly designed remote
