Consumer review (productreview.com.au)

Terrible

Any unit that can't even make it through the warranty period without breaking down twice should seriously be avoided.

It's cheap and it's multizone (able). I liked the 30sec skip button and the mechanical on/off switch on the front panel. Scart in, scart out, RCA video in, RCA video out, RCA video in on front, S-video in/out (ie. multiple inputs/outputs). The remote...

From a user friendliness perspective, it's one of the recorders that doesn't switch automatically to TV/AV when you press stop. There's a button to do this on the remote control but not on the front panel. Ergo, without the remote, you're stuffed if...

Terrible

Avoid if you are not comfortable with quirky/weird technology. Compared with the worst DVD recorders: it is still "working" after 2 years.

It still plays DVDs. I have Dick Smith's extended warranty on this product - thank goodness!!

New intermittent fault: the drawer refuses to open, it doesn't even bother to attempt to open or twitch. Have to power off/on to knock some sense into its logic circuits.

Terrible

I am giving this review a zero in order to compensate for my previous "good" rating. I have written to Dick Smith and told them they shouldn't sell such unreliable products as it ruins their reputation and consumer confidence. Their reply: "No comment."

It's consistent - consistently poor. Will be buying another VCR so that we can be sure of being able to watch programs after we have recorded them. With a DVD it only takes one error on the disk and the whole file becomes unreadable.

After getting a replacement some months ago (luckily I had bought Extended Warranty) the second unit is now having problems too: 1. At first the unit was noisy when spinning a DVD, now it is louder still. It is so noisy that it makes the thin metal...

Good

A good entry level unit for a "new technology", will do until the price of "brand name" units comes down. General comments relevant to any DVD Recorder. To those of you who have never used a DVD Recorder: You can start to record a TV programme using a...

"Cheap and cheerful." (you get what you pay for). Playback is good, with none of the freezing I have noticed on the cheap DVD players.

The unit is quite noisy when the disc is spinning. Remote control Very weak transmitter. Manual says it should work 30 degrees either side of the unit (ie. 60 degrees total range). In reality this means you have to aim the remote very carefully at the...

Good

It's better than the Digitrex and for this I am thankful

It works! Had a problem with a rolling scan when placing a recordable DVD in the drive but put it down to interference between the drive and tuner. Connected SCART in to my SCART out on the Foxtel digital box - result - brilliant!!!!

The manual is beyond useless - I have a knowledge of electronics anyone who has not could be in trouble.
